"I would definitely stay at Hotel Montestella again. It is centrally located in Salerno in that if you walk in one direction, you reach the "Old town" with the restaurants and shops, Cathedral and beach part in 10-15 minutes and if you walk in the other direction, you reach the train station in 8 minutes. Not for the faint hearted if you do t like steps, there approx 450 down the main road, half of tjis coming back is by way of an escalator, if it’s working.
