Italian Hideaway in Calvanico
True Italian experience. House found up twisty, turning streets to quiet area in a quaint Italian village. Enjoyed the local coffee bistro/village gathering place. Best coffee found in two weeks. Good access to local sites. We really enjoyed the back yard

very nice place to stay
The house is old and very impressive, The garden is "wow" ! Big, cultivated and wellcomming. Roberto is very nice and cooperative and the price is fair. Calvanico is a bit far for those who travel amalfi area, But if you don't mind driving - it's nice and quiet. For the price we paid, It was an excellent choice ! Thank you.

Home from the 1600s with tons of character.
We thought the house and grounds were lovely. Beds and bathrooms were comfortable, plenty of hot water thanks to the on demand water heaters. I really enjoyed being able to use the fireplaces! There was plenty of firewood and I think it helped with keeping the gas heating expense down. Really enjoyed the stay!

Lovely piece of paradise
We wanted an authentic Italian holiday and staying at Villa Mimosa certainly provided that. My grandmother was born in Calvanico which is how I picked this location. The property was full of charm and we especially enjoyed our time in the garden. Once we got accustomed to driving in Italy, and down the narrow street that led to the villa, it became 2nd nature. A car is a must to stay here. The villa is a short drive to Salerno where you can easily take the train as we did to Naples or Rome or wherever you’d like to go. The property owners went above and beyond to help us out when our luggage didn’t arrive and when the washing machine stopped working and seemed very willing to answer any questions we had about the area. Hope we find our way back again one day!!

Villa Mimosa in Calvanico - great spot!
We stayed 6 nights in Calvanico at Villa Mimosa. This is a great spot for reaching Salerno, Amalfi Coast, Napoli, etc. It's out of the tourist areas up the side of the mountain about 1500 ft. It's a small town, so there are just a couple of places to get grocery items, coffee and breakfast, and a few restaurants, but that's the way we wanted it. Donato and Roberto(Donato's son) were fantastic to work with. Roberto contacted me via the VRBO app a few days before our arrival, send me good directions and he helped locate a bike shop in Salerno, where my son could rent a bike. Very helpful! He also had some very good information on taking a boat trip from Salerno up the Amalfi Coast, which has breathtaking views. The weather was near perfect with the a nice dry climate, plenty of sunshine and cool mornings and evenings. We also found a great hiking area just about 15 minutes further up the mountain where we hiked to Pizzo San Michele, about 5,000 ft above sea level with amazing views of the Amalfi Coast, Napoli, the Tyrrehnean Sea, etc. We stayed 1 month in Italy on our trip in Rome, Tuscany, Venice, Bergamo and Salerno area and this was my favorite place.

Excellent! Very authentic and quiet place!
A great experience of living in an authentic Italian villa located in historical center of a rural area. Very beautiful place, very clean inside, surrounded by large garden with walnut and hazelnut trees, as well as hundreds years old pines and ash tree where you can hide and fire a barbecue. Private parking was great advantage. Highly recommended to anyone who is looking for an inspiring vacation in mountains. Donato and his son were very kind and helpful. Many thanks for their hospitality.

We thoroughly enjoyed staying at Villa Mimosa that this was actually our second visit. Lovely as remembered! Located in a quiet and picturesque hilltop village and near to some wonderful day trips. This is the real Italy! Highly recommended. Mille Grazie, Donato!

This was a lovely Villa, Difficult to find, but well worth the drive up to this property.
This was such a beautiful Villa. It is hidden away behind a wall and opens up to a wonderful villa and gardens. Our family of 8 stayed there with plenty of room for our 4 grandchildren to roam. Roberto was very helpful in getting us to the property . It was is a high climb up to the Villa Mimosa. The home is beautiful, has very much character and everything was provided. The sad thing for us was it rained 2 of the days, But we still were able to go exploring. We visited Pompeii. The little village had grocery stores and we had fun cooking our own meals many days. We would recommend this property to all. Thank you for all your kindness Roberto and Donato. Sincerely The Thurmans

Quiet time after the hustle and bustle of the Costa Almafitana
We were a group of 12, 3 families. The house had plenty of space for all of us and a wonderful garden for the kids to play. The views were outstanding. We loved the vibe of a quiet town after the busy time exploring Costa Almafitana and to experienced a period house. Near the town there was a great local restaurant making our dinners tasty and easy! Great value for money!

Wonderful
The house was much bigger than we expected with plenty of room for everyone. The garden is laid out in three large parcels and very well tended with a lovely green lawn. Plenty of fresh seasonal fruits (we had figs) and herbs. The elevation made for a pleasant climate after trips to the coast. Nice local restaurant. Roberto was very friendly, uncomplicated and easy to contact. He had great tips for the area. Pretty much perfect!

Like visiting your Italian Grandparents
We spent one week in the end of August in this lovely house, for sure more than100 year's old, where you feel like visiting your beloved Italian grandparents. We had a great time having dinner in the evening in the big and green garden. You will find a lot of places and facilities to enjoy the day under the sun or under the shadow of a big trees. Be prepared to fight the mosquitos;-), as well to be offline inside the house;-), but so you can enjoy the nice and cosy atmosphere:-). The location is perfect, so we visited Amalfi, Positano (by boat), Salerno, Pompeii and Paestrum (where we stayed as well on the nice beaches there). It is exactly as it is shown in the pictures, so we recommend this house. The communication with Roberto was perfect ana always available. We have a nice and relaxing holiday, so we enjoyed it completely.

house for families
Nice house, with a huge garden. Perfect for families. We rented a car and visited from Calvanico a lot of interesting places such as Pompei, Naples, Paestum, Amalficoast, Sorrento... The contact with the owner went well. It's just a pity that in times when the weather is not so good (winter, spring) that it is not so easy to warm up the big house. In summertime this won't be a problem.

Rural retreat in a old country house with a spacious setting
We spent a few days in the villa during our family vacations in March. We enjoyed the atmosphere of the old spacious house and its rutal setting with the nice garden. Donato and Roberto are very nice and couteous hosts. While in summer the villa probably provides a cool retreat from the south Italian heat, it was rather chilly in spring time with the high ceilings making it difficult to heat - even with the heating system and the fireplaces.
