Five stars for the location, if that’s what you are here for. But be aware that the apartment is not as it’s advertised to be, and the owner is not quick to respond in case of issues.
There is a sofa bed in the living room, but not enough linen, blankets and pillows for it. Texted owner as soon as we checked in about this, but instead of acknowledging the issue and getting housekeeper hand over the blanket to us, owner kept insisting that there may not be an issue. I had to chase the housekeeper next day to get the blanket.
There are a lot of pubs and bars downstairs, so if you are a light sleeper, living room is not for you - lot of partying and loud music into early morning.
The WiFi never worked and on asking for help, the owner kept denying that there is an issue just because previous guests didn’t complain about it.
Living room only has one small fan, which is not enough for hot temperatures. Both bedrooms have AC units though.
Our main pain point came when the hot water suddenly stopped working in the bathroom after a day. For 2 days, the owner refused to even accept that there is a problem. Some gem of arguments from him:
1. "The hot water was working before check-in" - Of course it was! We enjoyed it for a day before it stopped working. There is an expectation that the owner would send help promptly if things do break during the stay. Instead he wasted a good 2 days arguing there is no issue at all!
2. "San Juan weather is warm enough" - is that even an excuse for not providing hot water to guests? It’s a basic necessity in a unit. After coming back fully drenched in the rain one night, all that my little kids needed was a hot shower. Instead I had to torture them in cold shower for two days straight before getting any help.
After a very frustrating exchange of texts with the owner for 2 days, the hot shower was finally fixed on the very last day of our stay.
If you are staying here, please do not go with high expectations, especially dont expect prompt help or responses from the owner.
(Fyi - I even raised this as a concern with VRBO and have all the evidences for the above facts in for of texts that I shared with owner.)
