"The property is old and there is some need for upgrading things like beds and shower stalls/tubs…but we go there again and again because the staff is wonderful. The beach is beautiful with some of the best snorkeling we’ve ever seen. Our housekeeping lady (Mercedez) was so kind and by the end of the week we were best friends. It’s a treasure in Cozumel…we know there are nicer hotels but we will probably keep going to El Cozumeleño forever. If you are a princess who needs every aspect of service to be impeccable, this isn’t your hotel. If you travel to other countries to experience the culture and get to know some of the locals, and can appreciate hard work and effort made on your behalf, you’ll be happy there."

"The dining options and quality of food were great. We enjoyed the flexibility of the buffet. It should be stressed more at check in, or booking even, the need for restaurant reservations. It is more of a necessity than a recommendation. The resort app was easy to use and worked well for room service and mini bar refills. The bell staff were always friendly and helpful. The cleaning staff did a great job. For evening entertainment, the Tequila Shot Band was excellent! "

"This property was renovated last February and was very clean uncomfortable. The rooms were small but had everything we needed! Francesca at the front desk was amazing. She made me feel important tended to my needs and was efficient kind and really made me feel that I was a cherished guest at this gem of a hotel. The hotel is in walking distance of absolutely everything and the choices of dining and activities are limitless. I would highly recommend anyone to stay at this hotel, my experience was stellar!"

"The location is ideal if you want to be close to downtown and lots of access to activities that many depart from the downtown area. There is room to park a scooter if you rent one, but you will have to street park a car. If you want that ideal view, make sure to book the ocean view room, They have other rooms without view's. The staff is super friendly and helpful, I hear they will bring breakfast and coffee if you ask, we did not. These are not pristine "resort" rooms, but everything works, the a/c was cold, the hot water was hot (might take a minute to get there, but it's there) and they keep the rooms really clean. For the location and convenience, I would definitely stay there again!!"
