Welcome to our beautifully fully furnished Edisto River retreat home. Just 40 miles outside of downtown Charleston and 15 miles from downtown Summerville you can find our charming 4 acre gated river paradise with a private fishing pond. If you are looking for relaxation and river adventures, this is the spot. Fully furnished with new appliances, internet and cell phone reception. Direct private river access with canoes and kayaks for use while renting.
An old fish camp originally built in the 1960's that over the years had additions to give it the unique country style. A great space for enjoying time with friends and family surrounded by nature. We purchased the property in the fall of 2018 and have worked hard to transform the house into a beautifully rustic and spacious cabin with both indoor and outdoor living spaces. The property is shared with two luxury RV sites across the pond which are also available for nightly rental for class c motorhomes up to 30ft.
The heart of the cabin is our 300 sq ft fully equipped kitchen with new appliances. This fish camp style kitchen allows space for entertaining or preparing large meals for your family and/or friends. The eye catching wooden bar can seat 7 comfortably.
The cozy living room is adjacent, and has a large 55 inch TV, games and bar. A queen hid-a-bed couch and two lounge chairs. A full bath with shower is located within this portion of the home as well.
The spacious 600 sq ft screened in porch includes a 70 inch TV where you can stream Netflix, Amazon, Pandora, etc, comfortable furniture, a dining room table for 6 along with a Foosball table for your entertainment.
The separate "private master suite" is less rustic and charmingly furnished . Large room has a comfortable queen and side room contains a trundle bed. Also included in this suite is a fully stocked mini kitchen and full bath, not to mention the small jet garden tub. This is most charming part of the home with great views of the river off its porch with rocking chairs.
Bedroom 3 we call "A Room with a View", as it is a private room with a separate entrance off the screened in porch. The 3 panoramic windows give it a 180 degree view of the river and forest. A comfortable queen bed, dresser and WiFi TV are in this room.
Bedroom 4 we call the "Bunk Room," furnished with a twin over full bunk bed as well as a trundle that pulls out to a queen. This is a perfectly comfortably room for both kids and adults. Just may be cozier then the other rooms. This room also has its own entrance and contains the washer and dryer.
The surrounding property consists of 3 acres most of which is an island. A half acre fishing pond, which can be used to practice paddling many of the included canoes and kayaks, is stocked with Bass and Sunfish. Great fishing fun for kids, so make sure to bring some poles.
The riverfront portion of the property has a small boat launch (walk-in access) for the kayaks and canoes, a small floating dock to fish off of and a giant yard to play games etc, We provide classic yard games such as Corn-hole, Horseshoes, Croquet, and Tether ball. A large brick patio with southern tradition Adirondack chairs that can seat 12. These chairs surround a fire ring with full river views. Fire wood is included for small fires.
Weddings and Events:
Weddings and events are allowed only with a separate contract and pricing. You will need to contact us directly and discuss the options of what you wish to do prior to booking. Luxury RV Sites:
Across the pond and near the entrance to the property on the left are two private luxury rv sites for Class C motorhomes up to 30ft in length. With full hookups, large paver patios with furnished gazebos, they are perfect for those who have visiting guests. Sometimes occupied by others they do not have access to the larger property unless part of your party. Contact us for availability.
Exterior of property is secured with security cameras covering all points of entry including the screened porch. The interior of the home and private spaces are private and no cameras are present. Messing with, destroying or turning off our security is grounds for being removed from the property.
Outside Fun & Safety
The riverfront portion of the property has a small boat launch (walk-in access) for the kayaks and canoes. We have some classic yard games such as Corn-hole, Horseshoes, Croquet, and Tether ball to come. A large brick patio with southern tradition Adirondack chairs that can seat 12. These chairs surround a fire ring with full river views. Fire wood is included for small fires. Please make sure the fire is out if you leave the property.
IMPORTANT RIVER SAFETY:
The Edisto River is a dark fast-moving river with lots of trees, bends and can be quite dangerous or deadly to both the inexperienced and experienced. Water levels can rise quickly. If you are unfamiliar with kayaks or canoes or navigating in fast moving water, we highly recommend you book a guide and let them take you down calmer parts of the river or just paddle in our pond. Safety is the most important part of your stay at our home. Edisto River Adventures is a wonderful family run business who are very knowledge of the river and can book trips. Please find their brochure in the basket under the TV in living room.
Many guests are avid kayakers, and still take advantage of the guided services in the areas nearby. These guides can meet at a variety of places up river depending on how long of a paddle you want. They deliver the boats and can provide transportation back to your car or house if needed. The typical paddle will be between 2 and 5 hours guided or unguided depending on your skill level and where you put in. You are also welcome to bring your own equipment.
If you choose to paddle without a guide this is at your own risk. The calmest route is at the edge of our property upstream (to the left when looking at the river), there is a nice calm 20 min paddle through an old river cove. If you hug the shore it’s an easy paddle to the cove where there is little to no current when the water is low.
The kayak/canoes that we provide on our property we ask not to be taken downstream. If you paddle them downstream you can be gone for a long time as its over 2 miles to the next landing or 6 miles to the bridge landing. Only thing in between is wilderness and swamps. It would be a long walk home and the sheriffs do not rescue at night. You will be responsible for all lost gear and your lives. We ask you do not utilize the dock at this time.
The Boat Launch (walk-in access) on property is for kayaks and canoes only, no power boats can be launched. This is why we refer to it as walk-in access. If you have a boat, you can launch your power boat from Good Hope landing 2 miles downstream and tie up to the dock. We are not liable for your boat left in the water tied up. Experience on the Edisto River is advised when using a motorboat, the water is very shallow and hidden logs are submerged.
We want you to have the best experience you can have on the Edisto River!! Sit back, relax, eat good food, have laughs, make memories and take in the beautiful nature surrounding you. This is a one of a kind location that will leave you wanting to come back.
