Stunning Property!

The location is beautiful and the grounds are kept impeccable. You see how much staff they dedicate to keeping the grounds well maintained. A lot of hidden gems to be discovered simply wandering around the sprawling property of Maloka Barlovento/Casa Tayrona Los Naranjos from various pools to a tiki bar that has reggae music and salsa playing. It just an amazing property. Beds are comfortable, rooms are big and well decorated with a classy rustic appearance. Ten minutes from the Tayrona Park El Zaino entrance. Staff is all incredibly kind. Dinner offerings are great. My only critique is breakfast. The coffee was below average. You come to a country like Colombia you expect great coffee to be the standard. Breakfast have now shifted to quantity over quality. We stayed here in April 2021 and the breakfasts were smaller, but the quality was better. Bread was better, fruit was more flavorful. All being said, this is an absolutely gem of a place to stay. Absolutely gorgeous. You wonā€™t want to leave!

This lovely boutique hotel has excellent service. 5 star service. They go out of their way to make you comfortable, small things like filling your water bottle, and when you go to take a sip realize that she even put ice in it:). They will arrange transportation fo youā€¦worth it!! The kitchen is wonderful, they will help with any diets, in our case Vegan. It is mostly open air everywhere, but we found the temperatures quite comfortable with the ocean breezes and fans. There is an AC in your room which does cool things down if you need ti. There is WIFI all over the property.. fairly stable. The only downside is the musty smell from natural humidity. It is ON the beach and the lagoon and it often rains in the afternoon/evening:) We enjoyed walking way down the beach in both directions. Spring for the ocean view. Or corner room!

I was not given the room with a queen bed as was shown and requested in my reservation. There are screens on the back windows and doors, but no glass. There are no screens preventing misquotes from entering the room on the front doors.

The place is amazing, but we got there excited to spend time on the pool - and the pool was so dirty and impossible to be used- I was very upset about that . Pls take in consideration you cannot bathe on the river and cannot bathe in the ocean - and now - you have no pool as well! We payed to stay in the suite because of the pool and we couldnā€™t use it . And all they did was to say - I am sorry. I mean , very disappointed. Besides that, the place , the food and the people were incredible.

Terraza con vistas al PN Tayrona

La ubicaciĆ³n y espacio son magnĆ­ficos con vistas espectaculares. El desayuno fabuloso . La piscina (poco concurrida cuando fui, era un oasis de paz donde uno oĆ­a los pajaritos, los loros (Gabi y Roberto) y donde alguna iguana se dejaba ver. Los ventiladores de mi habitaciĆ³n eran muy silenciosos (cosa que agradezco). Servicio de masaje (spa) tambiĆ©n genial. Como punto en contra dirĆ­a que las paredes son algo finas y no hay cristal en las ventanas (solo tela antimosquitos). Si te tocan vecinos ruidososā€¦ se oye. TambiĆ©n el mar, cuando estĆ” bravo, hace demasiado ruido para dormir (si necesitas algo mĆ”s de silencio por la noche). Un cristal solventarĆ­a ambos temas. Todo lo demĆ”s, genial!

Wow what an amazing location. From here you can experience Tayrona without the need to go into the park the way the majority of tourists do. Amazing beach (not very swimmable because of waves). Great views of the mountains and the river. 5 stars for scenery and location. The downside was I booked a "Deluxe Cabin" which was not a cabana as I expected it to be, but a room next to the kitchen where they start using blenders at 5am. I immediately told the staff that we were expecting a cabin/cabana which they told me "you don't want a cabana, the ocean is too loud there." The cabanas are clearly superior to the rooms advertised as a "cabin" and they were dishonest in their handling of the situation. The food at Maloka was very heavy and rich- not what you want to eat at the beach. I recommend eating at Casa Tayrona next door, their food is much better. ā€Øā€ØLike many businesses in Colombia they are using QR codes for menus and prefer that you use your phone to order instead of directly with the waitresses. The app is frustrating and I donā€™t like to have my phone with me while I enjoy the beautiful environment. I hope they abandon this silly process. ā€Øā€ØI would recommend this place to everybody, but the service and food deserved some criticism.
