With its rows of palm trees, soft white sand and clear ocean water, Sao Beach is one of the best bays on the island of Phu Quoc. The area around it remains relatively undeveloped, providing a serene and peaceful ambiance. Admire the gorgeous views of the surrounding green hills and the blue-green water, where it meets this stretch of white sand.
Enhance your tan or relax in the shade of the tropical vegetation. The dry season in this warm region runs from November through April, while the ocean water is warmest in May. Lie on the bend of one of the thick palm trees or spread out a blanket in the sand for a picnic with friends. Walk up and down the beach, as you look for shells and other marine treasures.
Although the bay is fairly secluded, you will find a few huts serving snacks and refreshments. Try the grilled fish and sip beer or cocktails. Rent sunbeds and umbrellas and get comfortable on this beach, which is among the most popular on the island. Sao Beach is on the southeastern coast of the island of Phu Quoc in southwestern Vietnam. Get a ferry to one of the island’s ports, such as An Thói or Bên phà Thanh Thói. You can also take a taxi from Phu Quoc International Airport, which is just 10 miles (16 kilometers) north of the beach. Visit nearby bays and landmarks, such as Bãi Khem, Bãi biển Bai Cay Dua and Bãi Trường.
