The desk staff are very helpful to answer my questions. The hotel is near to many otaru attractions. Walkable to otaru station with my luggage. Maybe can provide free coffee to hotel guests?
Good location, yummy soba shop just nearby the hotel. Room is clean, staff is nice & helpful. Also, very nice breakfast place and delicious food at 3/F.
But no onsen/ open bath in the hotel now. Have laundry at 2/F. The Parking next to the hotel always full, takes ~7 mins walking distance from another car park, 1000 yen per day, freely in & out
Great, small hotel in a sleepy very small city. Otaru is absolutely fantastic. Amazing food, but don’t expect late nights out. Clean, comfortable room and a super helpful staff. Ski room was a nice feature. No free parking, but for a city, and it wasn’t too pricey. 1000 yen/night. The only thing it’s missing is an onsen, but there are a few public ones close by. We stayed here while skiing Kiroro; great small mountain. Both Otaru and Kiriro were perfect for a local feel and not having a western resort vibe. 👍
Hotel is within walking distance from the train station and close to the canal and many shopping streets.
Rooms are really cosy with very comfortable bed and separate shower and toilet.
Buffet breakfast, while not having a huge selection, food is of high quality and tasty.
Like all Japanese hotels, the staff are so polite, friendly and helpful.
location not really convenient by walking and suggest to take cab, there’s one convenient store by 2 min. walk and this is the only store nearby.
bedroom is small and only able to open one luggage, but bathroom is nice n spacious.
No coffee n teabag provide which is not humanize and need to go to ground floor to get drinking water, esp. in cold winter.
breakfast is exquisite but taste is over rated but the environment of dining place is elegant.

Beautiful old building, horrible housekeeping.
Horrible housekeeping. I told the hotel that the water does not go down in the bathtub, and they said it is because the building is too old. I insisted that it is because the cleaning is not good enough as I found several strands of hair in the bathtub when I first went in. Housekeeping staff came and "worked" on it, and left after saying it cannot be fixed because the building is too old. I tried taking a shower instead. The shower booth was flooded within 2 minutes after I turned the water on. I lifted the heavy and slimy drain cover, cleaned the drain hole of hair and black grime with a toothbrush. Wow the old building rejuvenated, and the water went down like magic.
The staffs at the front desk and the restaurant were kind and polite. What a pity that this dignified building is being ruined by such unqualified housekeeping staffs.
A very unique hotel renovated from a history bank building. Enjoyed the interesting hotel experience merging of modern use of amenities and management in an old setting. There are two towers. We stayed in the vintage building. It kept the bank wall and door deco in dark brown and white. The room is not bad in size, very big kind size bad and clean overall. The bathroom has separate toilet, a comfy tub and big shower space right on the side. Good water power. Suggest to have a stool. A little slow in draining for the tub after my hot tub. And a little mold around a few tiles but I think it is acceptable since it is an old building. Overall the whole room is not rusty, but well kept and clean, with good ventilation. Face care amenities need to pay while other bathroom amenities and tea are free to take. Our premium deluxe room with club access adds on my interesting experience to the night lounge which is decorated with lots of classical oil lamps and music boxes. You can choose music box you like to bring to your room to listen and return when check out.
The girl staff (fnot sure exact full name but it started with Tam….) at reception on our check in time between 4:80-5:15 pm on 9/7. She was comparatively ok to communicate in English. She was so friendly, helpful and patiently explained & recommended about tourist attractions and spent a long time to help us book a boat ride tour for the next day.
The breakfast buffet is worth to have. Good tasre and varieties.
