The Savannah Children’s Museum is an outdoor activity and educational center for children of all ages. It’s an excellent place for children to learn and explore. Enjoy outdoor activities with the family, including chess, musical games and playground equipment. Take a short walk to a nearby railroad museum and a modern art museum, the SCAD Museum of Art.

The exhibits in the Savannah Children’s Museum are designed to assist children with creativity. The staff help make the museum both fun and educational with daily programs. Join in one of the organized programs for an enriching experience. Take a short walk to many other Savannah attractions, including historic city squares and a large park with sporting areas.

The Savannah Children’s Museum is located in the lower level and upper courtyard of the old Central of Georgia Railway Carpentry Shop. This site also includes the Georgia State Railroad Museum. See an early-20th century functioning train turntable and many historic steam and diesel locomotives. This fascinating railroad museum also features 13 of the retired railroad complex’s original buildings.

Continue the family fun at Forsyth Park, located about a mile (1.6 kilometers) from Savannah Children’s Museum. This park features sporting areas, including tennis and basketball courts. Relax on the grassy lawns and enjoy a picnic in the sun. Show the kids the spectacular fountain built in the mid-19th century. Visit Forsyth Park on a Saturday to attend a farmer’s market with performances by local musicians.

Find Savannah Children’s Museum in the historic downtown district. The museum is open Monday to Saturday during the summer and Wednesday to Sunday during the remainder of the year. It has an admission fee. Walk from the museum to River Street in approximately 20 minutes for some of Savannah’s best seafood and Southern cooking.
