Foamy jets of water from multiple fountains decorate the grassy patches of Savassi Square. It is a popular gathering point for local Belorizontinos and sightseers, who frequent the cafés and shops in the surrounding Savassi neighborhood. Read a book while sitting on a bench overlooking the impressive fountain displays.
Notice the charming mosaic of small tiles that make up the white pathways of the plaza. Patches of lawn are raised atop gray stone bricks, holding groundcover, bushes and trees. Enjoy the youthful and bohemian ambiance in this student area, beside the campus of the Marista Dom Silvério College.

The square is officially known as the Diogo de Vasconcelos Square, as an homage to a local journalist and politician. Find out how he defended the important artistic and historic heritage of the region. The common name is a reference to a former bakery in the region.
Savassi Square is in its namesake district in the southern part of Belo Horizonte. Take a bus to a station on the highway running parallel to the plaza or get a taxi south from the Centro area. Visit some of the other nearby attractions, such as the Quartoamado art gallery, the Pátio Savassi shopping mall and Chevrolet Hall events center.
