Comfortable town house property to use as your base for exploring rural Spain or the Costas. If you want to just relax, just stay in Sax. Explore the town and all you need is in walking distance. Convenient for everything. There is a 24 hour supermarket on the corner and many bars, restaurants and cafes. Just around the corner from the weekly Monday market. Only a 5 minute walk to the sports centre which has a lovely large swimming pool, football pitches, basketball and more. The court side cafe is friendly and serves very reasonable traditional Spanish food and drinks.
The house is located on a quiet street of Sax where the neighbours are friendly and helpful. On a summers evening the neighbours put their chairs outside and chat and socialise. Google translate works fine if you don't speak spanish.
The house is typical for a town location. An old, beamed property, it stays quite cool due to the thick walls. There are however ceiling fans throughout. For the cooler months, there is a wood burner and portable heaters.
The kitchen has everything you need include fridge, freezer, coffee maker, washing machine and microwave.
Wifi is included in the price. The tv has spanish channels but is set for streaming such as Netflix. There is an ipad for use.
There is a dining table with 6 chairs. Comfortable seating and a sofa bed if necessary. Off the lounge there is another sofa bed which can convert to a double. Upstairs there are 2 double bedrooms and a bathroom with a shower (no bath).
Linen and towels (not beach towels) are provided. Off the main bedroom, there is a small terrace with table and chairs and bbq.
The location being central, is excellent and you do not need a car. We can arrange airport pick ups and there are buses to Alicante and surrounding towns. The town has several supermarket and the new large Consum is a 2 minute walk. The main streets have shops, bakeries, bars and restaurants, banks, ice cream shops and more. The local Co op is fantastic for olive oil, wine and produce local to Sax at very reasonable prices. The menu dia is common and around 9e for 4 courses plus coffee and drinks. Tapas and drinks are available all over town at reasonable prices.
There is a medical centre open 7 days per week.
The medieval castle is lit up at night and you can walk up during the day. It is central to the Moor and Christians festival every february. Throughout the year there are many festivals in Sax and surrounding villages.
Local villages are worth exploring Elda (castle and excellent Saturday market, Aldi and Carrefour), Salinas (sunday car boot), historical Villena and more.
Alicante is only a 30minute drive away. Not just where the airport is, but a beautiful city and harbour. Stunning shops, evening markets, Castle overlooking glorious beaches.
Benidorm is around 45 minutes drive with the modern attractions as well as the old town to explore. The theme parks are all in this area. Les Fonts d'Algar are worth a visit as a stunning natural waterfall area with only a minimal entrance fee.
The outer area of town (campo) attracts ramblers and cyclists for far away.
