View a tranquil scene of a fisherman in a river that reflects snow-capped mountains. Photograph this serene and majestic setting.

The reflected mountain views at Schwabacher’s Landing in Wyoming’s Grand Teton National Park instill serenity and peace. The park’s beauty is outstanding. This location is the apex of these natural wonders with a view of Grand Teton, the park’s highest mountain at 13,770 feet (4,198 meters).

Wade into the calm Snake River to go fishing or launch a raft to spend a lazy afternoon on the flat water. The shoreline is level here so families can safely enjoy the surroundings without being on the edge of a cliff.

Hike 4 miles (6 kilometers) along the shore to view abundant wildlife such as otters, deer, coyotes, moose and antelopes. To be safe around larger wildlife, stay at least 300 feet (90 meters) away. You may see beaver dams on your walk. Look up to see eagles and other birds of prey soaring. Bring along some food and refreshment as well as your camera and binoculars, and remember to take your garbage with you when you leave.

Capture sunrise from this location as the first rays bounce off the Tetons or witness the magic of dusk as the sun sinks behind the range. Come early on summer mornings as photographers jostle to get the best location. You can see the beautiful surroundings from the road and parking lot, but it’s worth taking the extra time to go to the shoreline for views that are postcard perfect.

Access to the river is more limited in the colder months when the gravel road becomes rougher. Visit this area at multiple times of the year to get different perspectives of the natural beauty.

Travel to the nearby Mormon Row Historic District to discover how early homesteaders lived in this area. In winter the road is closed but you can walk, ski or snowshoe from the main road to visit this heritage location.

Include Schwabacher’s Landing as a must-stop place to visit, whether you are passing through or spending more time in the region. For a scenic perspective of the Teton Range, this viewing point is about as good as it gets.
