About This Space
The Grate House is just a 3‑minute drive (or less!) to Harding University, Harding Academy, Searcy High School, and downtown Searcy.

Originally built in the 1940s, this charming home has been fully remodeled inside, blending modern comforts with historic touches — from its marble countertops and tile floors to original hardwood, reclaimed tongue‑and‑groove boards, and the unique floor grate that inspired its name.

This 2‑bedroom, 1‑bath home features a full kitchen, formal dining area, laundry access, and a comfortable living room with a pull‑out couch. Outside, enjoy a fenced backyard with a spacious patio, grill, fire pit, fire table, and outdoor seating.

-If you leave before 11am please message us and let us know -Collect trash from bathroom and kitchen. Please place it in large trash bin outside in the backyard.
-Please leave bedding. We ask that you do not re make the used beds. -Place any used blankets in front of one of the beds as well. -Dishwasher cleaning pods can be found under the sink.
-Towels: Please toss all towels in the hamper in the laundry room. -Rugs: Please place the kitchen rugs on the bench in the dining room. This helps our roomba vacuum not get into unnecessary fights.
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.

Pet needs to be house trained (no peeing/pooping/chewing). No pets on furniture.
The renter is responsible for complying with these regulations and the renter will be cited or fined by the City of Searcy for violations.

Enjoyed our stay. Easy to access and good location. The only thing I would suggest is a lock for the bathroom door. But it is a quaint, enjoyable place to stay.

Great little place in Searcy

We had the opportunity to stay at the Grate House on a visit to Harding University. It was a perfect location close to everything we needed and a nice cozy place to stay while visiting. The hosts communicated everything we needed and the checking and check out was seamless. Highly recommend!

Beautiful home and wonder

This home and our stay was more than we expected! It was absolutely amazing. It was nice to have the welcome folder that included recommendations of places to eat that were right on spot! We definitely would stay here again!

Wonderful girls trip

My friend and I traveled to AR for a girls shopping get away. The Grate house was a perfect spot to relax. The house is wonderfully decorated and well equipped and it was so nice to be able to bring a pet. I highly recommend this home!!!

Beautiful Searcy home

We absolutely loved this home! It was beautiful and had everything we needed! Close to quant downtown Searcy, it was the perfect pet friendly space with the fenced yard! The hosts were extremely helpful and responsive! Highly recommend!!

The Grate House is awesome!

The Grate House is an amazing place to stay for the price, it has everything you need for a nice relaxed weekend in Arkansas. It’s very close to the town square and art alley in Searcy with just a short 30 minute drive to all the fun activities you can do in Heber Springs. I would highly recommend this property to anyone wanting to stay near the beautiful Ozark National Park!

Great pet friendly property!

After a long day of travel we were super happy to stay at this property. It was terrific inside, and the fenced in backyard(reason we booked this VRBO) was exactly what our dog needed after hours in a car. We were only here for a night. But the interior was exactly as pictured, very nicely done and maintained. Would definitely recommend staying at this location.

University Visit

This was a great place to stay for our visit to Searcy. House was well done for the remodel, and we felt comfortable staying here. The next door neighbor has a dog that barks quite a bit, but it was controlled during the evening, so it was a non-issue. Had great communication with the hosts, and check in/out was easy and reasonable. Will definitely look to stay here again should we end up being frequent visitors to Searcy.

Charming 1940’s home

Enjoyed relaxing around the fire pit and a great nights sleep the evening before a scheduled visit/college tour at Harding with my son and a friend. If they choose Harding this may become our home away from home!!!!

Great location, perfect character

Great location, close to "downtown" Searcy, in a quite older neighborhood. Perfectly clean and well furnished. Wooden floors throughout and shiplap walls, great charm and character. Easy access to everything you need. Will be 1st choice for next extended stay in the area. Great hosts, excellent communication.

Grate House

Beautifully remodeled. Loved the countertops and everything was right there. Very homey and comfortable. Couldn’t do a 5 star due to our reaction to previous pet exposure on the guest bed and couch, but we have now learned to go no pet homes. We’re just more sensitive than others I guess. It’s a very nice, well thought out house, much better than a hotel.
