We thought we had a bed not a bed settee, we thought there was a fully fitted kitchen, there wasn't, we thought we could use the lake, we couldn't as it was closed, I expressly asked twice if I could bring a kayak but had no reply, nor were we told the lake was out of action due to Algie, we also didn't know that pretty much absolutely everything else was extra, TV, Wifi, swimming,...

"Lovely old building with pleasant grounds but the unit lacked a great deal. Firstly, no air conditioning on a 34 degree day is a huge problem for anyone. We had to ask for a fan and leave windows on ground floor open all night in order to get some kind of sleep. NOT IDEAL for safety. Kitchen facilities were lacking, no chopping/cutting board, no sharp knife to cut anything, no microwave heating bowl, slow oven top, no egg spatula or tongs, no toaster. "We rented the chateau to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary with children and grandchildren (13 of us). Everyone was delighted with the beautiful and spacious home, the property and the location. We were able to travel to many wonderful places nearby and a little bit further out in France. It was an amazing time in a fairy tale place."

"The property is down a lane in a very rural location about 2Kms outside Rance and it is about as tranquil and relaxing as you could imagine with just the distant baa ing of the sheep for company. The bedrooms and bathroom and toilet are downstairs with the living accommodation and patio upstairs which works very well. We absolutely loved it and were blessed with fine weather. To note the downstairs toilet is very compact."

"Family break for a week - five adults and a four years old child. The accomodation is really well set up - en-suite bathrooms in all bedrooms, a good kitchen and secure garden. Hostess was there to greet us. Being August, the town was really quiet, so I would say a car is essential. Supermarkets available around 4km away. I would thoroughly recommend the property."

"Belle maison sur Beaurieux avec tout le confort, bien chauffé ce qui est appréciable en hiver, les explications d'Ingrid ont été claires et l'accueil agréable. Le jardin est idéal avec un animal de compagnie. A proximité du val Joly pour une promenade au bord du lac. Un bon week-end de novembre!"

"We were welcomed as soon as we arrived by our lovely hosts. It really was a very peaceful getaway. The gite is well equipped and the shared pool, games room and mini gym are a great feature."

"We have just spent a lovely two weeks here, the Gite was just what we were looking for and the weather was fine also. The owners were extremely welcoming and so kind, you couldn’t wish for more. I would say that the photos on the site were probably from a few years ago, but everything was as it said. "Our stay was good. We were only there for sleeping as we were visiting family and friends. All was good. The only thing I would say is that a 21.00 deadline to check in on the first night was a bit too early. We tried to contact the hotel to ask if we could arrive a bit later but there was no response. "The chalet was clean, although small, there was sufficient space for our motorcycle gear and space outside to leave luggage. The area around the lake is good for walking and due to it being end of season, very quiet throughout the day and night. The breakfast service was poor and does not represent good value. The first day there were no bowls for creals and no clean tea mugs. On the second day we were the only two diners. The cleaners were in the room drinking coffee when we arrived so there was not enough coffee left. I asked for more, they gave us a flask, locked the service room and left. They hadn't made more coffee but simply topped up the flask with water so the last bit we had was undrinkable. We then realised they had locked away the breads and croissants, leaving us nothing to eat. I told the office about this and as we had only eaten half a breakfast I asked for a refund of one but this was refused. We had a long ride that day and wanted a good start to the day, not to pay for the cleaners' breakfast. Overall the stay was good and I recommend it to others but advise against having the breakfast. "

"A beautiful property in a quiet location. Bags of facilities, with charming and thoughtful service. Excellent food and a copious breakfast, with delicious organic fruit, cheese, meat and drink from the farm and other local producers. Ideal as a stop over travelling to or from the UK, or as a romatic getaway in the country."
