The Plume of Feathers

3.5 star property
9.2 out of 10, Wonderful, (152)
"Second time we have stayed at The Plume travelling to/from Cornwall. It is a lovely, comfortable & homely hotel. However, the absolute bonus is their restaurant, the food (small plates/tapas) is excellent, as are the cocktails and wine list. It’s a shame it is not near our home as we would be very regular visitors!"

"A spacious property well furnished, warm and equipped for our needs. The owner was very helpful and considerate. For the price we were lucky to be able to find it on line. The dairy farm smells were no more than expected . The local village was charming and had good basic stores, including a very good chippy and a helpful chemist."

"Very shabby inside, dirty furniture, unhygienic kitchen and no hot water in shower or bath. The shower also leaked from the wall fitting and gushed down the tiles. The carpets were dirty giving accomodation unpleasant smell. We decided to leave early but hosts didn't bother to ask if everything was ok. Would definitely not return!!!!"

The Old Stable

3.0 star property
8.0 out of 10, Very good, (1)
"This is not the Ritz - but there are some really good points - it's lovely and quiet - so a good sleep was easy. Take your own towels - ones provided were not great - I would also say take your own bedding. One major for a couple is the double is on a mezz and the toilet is down stairs - this didn't effect me as I was on my own so slept in the single room downstairs. Owner is lovely - and my stay in Sherborne very nice. Lovely place."
