Go for the all inclusive three-day ticket to visit the cathedral roof spaces as well as the baptistry, crypts and Santa Maria del Scala. All are wonderful.
Don't queue at the Cathedral for tickets - buy across the plazza and then go through the seperate 'with tickets' line at the Cathedral. Not always easy to see as it can be hidden by the queue - you have to go up the steps.
Go for the full "Opa Si" pass. The Cathedral is wonderful, but you shouldn't miss out on the Baptistry, the Crypt and the view from the terrace.
