"This is a 19th Century hotel. It was as if I was back in the Old South. Rocking chairs on the wrap around porch, and few blocks from the mighty Mississippi River. My only caution is there are NO elevators, and rooms are on 2 floors. So not ideal for anyone with mobility issues. Sweet patio where you can eat breakfast outside..I was there for a funeral, so not lots of time to spend at the hotel. Room are spacious and this city is full of Southern history!"

"Beautiful and impressive mansion like staying inside a castle. I was impressed with all the antique furnitures. That was a treat for me. I was grateful for the talk after breakfast about the history of the place. Downside was that some staff services and the logistics could have been better. The hair conditioner bottle was indeed shampoo. My dietary preference at breakfast didn’t make it to the kitchen staff (or it was ignored/ forgotten). Staff Couldn’t find the key to my room upon check in. "

"We stayed in Mae-Mae's Room at the Steele Cottage and it was great for our needs. Well appointed, conveniently located and easily accessible, yet removed from the core downtown area for privacy. The breakfast service at the Duff Green Mansion B&B was good for a first morning, but the 3+ block walk is not directly toward the main part of downtown and the river. I suggest equipping the Steele Cottage with bottled waters and snack items in each room for optimal convenience."
