"Spent a week there with family and dogs. Very clean and everything you could need The views are beautiful. One thing to note, if you take a dog make sure you have long leads and a torch, as nowhere enclosed to let them off before bed or first thing. Both bathrooms are en-suite as well as opening to the corridor which was a peek we didn’t expect. The perfect place for a relaxing family trip and highly recommend. "

The nearest shops are Keswick which is a drive away so buy before you arrive. The kids liked the Puzzle museum in Keswick and going out on Derwenter Water...

"Had a great long weekend at the property. Had loads of stuff there to use the kitchen to its full potential. Was lovely and warm and everyone had plenty of space in the accommodation. We were able to celebrate Christmas with my mum who is going to Guatemala next month and won’t be there. A few tiny tweaks will make this a perfect let but already great as it is."

Loved the jacuzzi bath to relax in after a long day walking. "Lovely cottage, ideal for a couple who enjoy a quiet village location. The cottage offers everything you need for a relaxing break. A good firm bed, a powerful shower, well stocked kitchen & some surprise host special treats."

"Overall it was lovely but had minor quibbles so 4 star. not 5. Remote control for TV worked poorly. Outside table had broken leg and left unrepaired. Attention needed to back on front and back borders which had begun but not finished. Drinking mugs were unpleasantly heavy and large. Felt a bit end of season! "We enjoyed a lovely weekend in The Barn which is situated in beautiful countryside near to some fantastic walking.The directions to the property and the information were accurate and helpful.The Barn is well equiped and comfortable with plenty of parking for groups like ours who may be bringing more than one car (we brought 4).The owner was very responsive to questions and was generous with a later check-out time. "The property is right on a very busy main road, the main bedroom is at the front so traffic noise is an issue. The curtains aren’t blackout curtains so street lights are an issue and one being faulty and strobing intermittently didn’t help. The exterior of the front could definitely do with some tlc as well. "We booked this hotel as a last minute break away. The reception, bar and lounge areas were lovely, clean and relaxing but the bedrooms are looking abit tired and were clean.The hotel did inform us and there were photographs of what the hotel will look like after the refurbishment which is due to start in 2025 on display. The staff were amazing, friendly and attentive. "

"Great location, easy to find using SatNav, and attentive staff. The room was decent with a powerful shower and tea/coffee making, comfy bed, decent space with desk & chair. Whilst the carpets on the staircases seem a bit dated, otherwise it was a splendid stay with a cracking good breakfast! And love the peacocks strutting around the grounds!"
