Ursa Major Cabin - 10 mins from Natural Bridge State Park, Red River Gorge

Ursa Major Cabin is named for the constellation "Big Bear", which is also the Big Dipper. This is our newest cabin on Star Gap road, set on a private 5 acre lot in the heart of the Red River Gorge.  It is about 1/2 mile from the Red River and 10 minutes from Natural Bridge State Park, Red River Gorge Geological Area and the Daniel Boone National Forest hiking trails.  Explore trails by day and sit back and relax around the fire circle and view stars at night. Or sit and view stars from the hot tub out back.  This modern cabin  has concrete counters, big windows with views, a large ktichen, two bedrooms rooms with queen size beds, a large bathroom with a full bath tub.  In the winter, enjoy the wood burning fireplace for a cozy enviroment. There is a grill, patio, firepit and plenty of outdoor space to hang out in the warmer weather.   We reguarly see dear crossing the yard or standing to graze on the spacious grassy area out front.  Be aware of chiggers in the yard if you sit and have a picnic on the grass!

-Check-in is 5PM (early check in of 3PM is available for $35)
-Check-out is 10AM (late check out of 12PM is available for $35)
-Dogs are allowed: $75/pet for entire stay (We ask that pets are kept off of beds, bedding and furniture. Pets must be accompanied at all times or crated if left in the cabin alone)

A perfect autumn experience
We loved our stay at Ursa Major. The cabin is in a great location and a lovely setting, especially for autumn colors. The design and decor are thoughtful and the cabin is well-appointed for guest comfort and convenience. The large side patio with sliding door access to both bedrooms is a nice design. The large outdoor table even expands for large groups. We made use of the barbecue grill, fire pit, and hot tub. We slept like babies in the peaceful setting and comfortable bed. We enjoyed ourselves so much on this recharge/R&R trip that we plan a repeat next October!

Private and peaceful --and stylish too!
In an area of country-themed, wood-walled cabins, finding an updated, pet-friendly home with nice views plus privacy is a find. We enjoyed our stay, thank you.

Red River Gorge Retreat
My husband, myself, and our dog stayed here for a weekend of hiking in Red River Gorge. The location is pretty close to all of the trails we hiked and the house itself was perfect for coming back at night to relax.

Cozy & peaceful but not too remote to adventure!
I've stayed in RRG a lot over the last two years and this was one of my favorite rentals. The location put me in a great place for accessing all of my favorite hiking spots in 35 minutes or less and right to town for dinners after a long day while at the same time delivering on all of my cabin needs- true dark, crickets, peace, and a good fire pit! The cabin is really well decorated, beds are comfy, and the cozy level was high. Heads up to parents with little kids: my toddler found a mouse trap in a cabinet I thought I'd checked and came SO close to catching her finger in it. Check spaces before little hands explore because ouch! That would've been a terrible start to the trip. I would absolutely rent here again. We loved it. PS hot tub was super clean and the bath was a welcome gift after big hiking!

Relaxing and quiet experience
What a cute small home located at the top of a hill and with great privacy! Hope they decide to get a TV for one of the bedrooms in the future but that’s my only complaint!! Would stay here again in a heartbeat - the hot tub was super fun and lights up at night which was a great perk. Can’t wait to stay here again

Lovely property
We had a great 1 night stay at Ursa Major. The stars were incredible! The teenagers loved the hot tub and everything appeared clean. Unfortunately there were lots of ants in the shower and we saw a very brave mouse several times. This made sleeping difficult. 😔

Awesome cabin close to climbing!
Perfect place to stay for a week long climbing trip to the Red! Kitchen had everything for cooking meals and beds were comfy enough. Plenty of shared common space for 2 couples. Hot tub was clean and was nice to have after a long day of climbing. Good communication with property manager. Would recommend and stay again!

Nice And Comfortable Stay
Love the size of the cabin, really cute atmosphere with the retro living room area. Bedrooms were decorated with some antique furniture pieces. The sliding doors were awesome especially the two living room ones that led to the concrete steps. We enjoyed sitting there in the evenings while our toddler roamed. The cabin is quite literally a box and maybe not all the finishes are perfect. But it is a comfortable stay and we enjoyed the modern feel of the place! Great, central location! Our WiFi worked pretty well to attend zoom meetings.

Overall property was exactly what we needed. Would like to have seen some more comfortable seating. One sofa wasn't enough for four adults. But other than that we enjoyed our stay.

Wonderful
My husband ,dog, and myself had a magnificent time at Ursa Major. The host where easy to contact with any questions or needs. The home is very unique and a well stocked kitchen. We were amazed at the cleanliness. I do believe it to be the cleanest rental we've ever stayed in. The only suggestion I would have would be a little more comfortable sofa. We would definitely stay again and plan to. We really likes this place a lot. Our dog looked back at it when we left and made little whimpering sounds, she didn't want to leave. We love this place and are thankful we got to spend some quality time there.

Close to Natural Bridge State Park and the gorge. About a 10 minute drive. Property was very clean. Recommend firewood if it’s chilly outside. Heating system didn’t seem to warm the place up very well but hey, it’s a cabin. Bring a hairdryer since there’s not one here. Would stay again if in the area.

The cabin is exactly as advertised and as reviewed by others. Nice private location at the top of the hill with land all around; cabin is nicely appointed and just like the pictures and description say; excellent location for hiking in the Red River Gorge. We really enjoyed our stay.
