After a strange (as in no prior details emailed to us) solitary check-in we acclimatised quickly to the comfortable, well equipped and clean property. Our misgivings about the curious land around the house were soon dismissed. The wet, windy and stormy weather did not help. But it was winter after all. The long desolate driveway and the old homewares around the nearby garage were a bit disconcerting. All in all we were comfortable and well located to the main town and its off-season services. The boat ride to the Gordon was an unforgettable experience.

We booked the basic studio unit “Huon”, it was adequate for our needs as we just needed a bed for the night and a place that allowed pets (which is usually hard to come by and most places charge extra for this which is frustrating as our dog is small and does not shed fur/does not create extra cleaning).
So we were extremely pleased with what Glenaire owners were offering, this was all topped offer by the beautiful location over looking the harbour 💞

There was a mix-up on arrival. Another couple was already occupying the unit we had booked, they had mistakenly selected the better/bigger unit. In their defense the units could be labeled more clearly. In a show of good-will we elected to stay in the smaller unit that night and transfer to the other unit the next day, so not to cause grief for the other couple and eliminate extra cleaning that afternoon. I would have thought the good-will would have been reciprocated and a part refund applied, which was offered at the time. The other unit was still very clean & comfortable, but not what we paid for.

Great spot. I was surprised to arrive and find unobstructed views over the bay. Bed was excellent. Bathroom very nice. It is out of the way but that added to a nice quiet stay.

We arrived just after dark and struggled to find the property as there was no lighting. It would help if the name of the apartment was visable from the driveway as it just looked part of the larger unit next door and it felt like we were snooping around trying to find it. I was hoping for a gem in the rough, but this wasnt it. Nothing particularly bad about it but also nothing particularly good. In saying that i'd rather try somewhere new next time im staying in Strahan.

My husband and I stayed in 'The Huon' apartment for one night. Check in was super easy and the accommodation instructions were simple to understand. The studio room was small and functional, however I would not describe it as modern or exceptional. On arrival the first thing you note is the tacky 'HUON' letterbox sign in the window which marks the correct building. The biggest 'put off' however was the filthy brown marks all over the quilt cover - it looked like someone either walked all over the bed with dirty shoes or the washing machine used needs attending to! How this was not noticed by the bed maker was beyond us! The other small things of note was the clock showing the incorrect time (an hour behind due to daylight savings - hubby corrected it) and the mismatched mugs with stain scratches on them, bathroom shaving mirror wobbly/dangerous....these small things are so easy to rectify and makes for a much more pleasant stay. On a positive note the views are amazing (past the ugly metal fence) and the king bed was super comfortable.

Verging on misrepresentation. 'Apartments' and pictures led us to believe the accommodation style was (shock/horror), apartments. In reality it is granny flat/caravan park cabin style accommodation. given what it actually is, price is around double the market rate and not worth it. Cabin dated and showing it's age in terms of wear and tear. Was expecting beds for four people (as booked), received 1x queen bed and a sofa-bed that was very uncomfortable. Booking had not been reviewed prior to us calling 1 hour out and, even then, linen was not provided for the sofa bed. Washing machine on veranda with outlet pouring soapy water directly on to the ground (not sure this is legal). Only connected to cold water. BBQ grease dripping on to veranda. Missing some key amenities like a strainer/colander ('cause no one ever wants to drain pasta or vegetables when cooking...). Glassware mis-matched and dirty. Tea towels reeked of having been used to dry ashtrays (despite non-smoking property). No microwave safe cookware that would fit in minute microwave. Location inconvenient to town attractions, especially in comparison to alternatives. Had we known any of this we would have booked other accommodation.
