"Hotel was extremely homely and welcoming, just as the staff and owner were. We wanted to stay somewhere outside of town to get an experience closer to “locals”, and this hotel did not disappoint. "It looks like the property is undergoing some renovations. Check-in was done by someone at the reception counter who cannot speak English. He came upto our room, but the key card was not working. We had to go back to the reception to get another card for another room. Wifi password was provided only after we asked for it. But the connection was very bad. No breakfast provided. "Sofitel Hangzhou is located right next to Westlake which is really convenient. Whilst the property is dated, we were surprised by the cleanliness. The staff is super friendly and never fail to attend to our needs. Breakfast was an excellent selection from chinese to western cuisine. They even offer a takeaway service for coffee & tea at breakfast. One downside is the mattress condition; it’s sunken and warrants a replacement. "
