Established in the northern Rocky Mountains by an Austrian nobleman in 1936, this is one of the first ski resorts in the U.S. Today, Sun Valley Ski Resort is a popular year-round destination. From late November to April, snow sports enthusiasts flock to the resort’s 2,154 acres (872 hectares) of skiable terrain that spreads across two mountains.
