Waterfront Puget Sound cabin, minutes from Bainbridge Ferry to downtown Seattle

*** Beginning Summer 2025 (June 2nd through September 28th) all summer bookings are per week, with a 6 night stay minimum, check-in on Mondays, check-out following Sunday or Monday morning. ****

This historic cabin is located right on the beach, just a few feet from the high tide mark. It's the only cabin immediately on the beach for miles either direction; all other houses are above at street level. The area is rich in Dungeness and Red Rock Crab (during open crab season). During the late Summer & Fall, salmon may be caught fishing right from shore. Or, just enjoy storm watching from the covered porch, with the wood burning nearby stove inside. Views of Mt Rainier, Puget Sound, the shipping lanes and North Seattle.

Just 90 minutes from downtown Seattle via the Seattle / Bainbridge Island ferry. Also within 15-30 minutes of Kingston, Poulsbo and the Suquamish Clearwater Casino and the Point Hotel and Casino.

This property is unique because it's the only cabin literally on the beach for miles either direction. The Puget Sound is immediately beyond the lawn covered bulkhead and covered porch. You may enjoy beach fires at night, with the Puget Sound on one side of you and the covered porch on the other.

*** IMPORTANT NOTICE *** : The cabin is accessible from the street above via a private beach trail. The trail starts as a gravel path and later becomes a custom boardwalk, 80 feet long and 5 feet wide. The hillside is steep in places. Inside the cabin, a log cabin style ladder / steps leads to the upstairs bedroom loft. There is a pull-out soft on the first floor for guests who wish to sleep on the ground floor. *** While this provides a unique secluded experience right on the beach, the walk to the beach may be challenging for senior citizens or physically impaired individuals, or those with mobility challenges. ***
*** For extended stays of several weeks / months, please message me. I offer customized discounted pricing for extended stays. ***

A live web cam of the beach is available online; search for Indianola Web Cam. (Blue Heron House is on the far beach, on the far right; the lights are visible at night.)

Great getaway
We loved our stay at the blue heron house. The cabin is so cute and cozy and the views are stellar. We loved beach combing at low tide with our dogs and watching the seals play in the water at sunrise. Lovely property! We had a great time!

Nice secluded cabin on the water
Everything was nice and clean during our stay, and we enjoyed being on the water. It is very nice and secluded, with a great view. The communication with the owner was excellent. The path down to the cabin was steep, so if you are elderly or unstable I could see that as a problem. Very nice getaway and well-maintained place to stay.

Peaceful and charming
We enjoyed a couple nights at this small home. The walk down and back up is steep, but the path is well maintained and safe. Well stocked kitchen, spacious bathroom, the whole home was very clean. The wildlife in the Sound and along the shore of the cabin was fun to watch. We wished we could have stayed another day!

Breath of Fresh (Salty!) Air
Gorgeous location and so peaceful to sit on the porch all day and listen to the water. Saw harbor porpoises, orcas, seals, and otters. Kitchen was great for cooking. Secluded location meant we weren't disturbed by anyone and really enjoyed the disconnect from a busy world. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

Fantastic views and sweet house
A beautiful, secluded spot on the water. It helped that the weather was gorgeous. Eating breakfast out on the porch, watching porpoises swim by and the fire pit for hanging around at night were highlights. The kitchen was well appointed and we ate all our meals in. We’ll be back!

Great place for prayers & family time
Me and my adult twin daughters came to escape the everyday life. Just a moment to celebrate family time and relax with our pups as well. Perfect amount of cabin life width modern amenities. I’d definitely like to return again when visiting my daughter in Seattle in the future. Bonus is seeing sooo many orcas and waking up to the water just out the front door. We had everything we needed, just needed to bring groceries!

Very charming place. Grandkids wanted to move in!
Finding and getting in to home a little difficult but my daughter came to help me and I didn’t read directions well enough. Apparently I need big signs 🤷🏼‍♀️I had a great time with my grandkids. Book again for August!

Perfect getaway
This was such a great little place! We arrived right as the tide was in and crashing against the front yard. This place was not for the feint of heart as there's a long, verticle boardwalk. I think it just adds to the feel of a couples retreat. Worth every step. There's lots of places to hike and interesting things to see. We saw a family of seals, lots of ducks, and in the last dawn of our trip, the blue heron. We plan to return at least once a year.

On the water relaxation
We needed a little cabin on the water semi close to home but still feel like we were out of town. The highlights were definitely the water and the wood stove! I did wish the setup had the bed situated on the main floor so that I didn’t have to climb up and down the ladder for bathroom, coffee and breakfast in bed, ect. We didn’t leave the property even once the whole weekend. Definitely the unwinding we needed! Thanks Joe! -Holli & John

Charming & Relaxing Cabin - A Place for Rejuvenation
Great vacation location - easy access to Seattle ferry and to quaint nearby island towns. We appreciated the majestic views (Mt. Rainier), the quiet starry nights, the water wildlife (sea lion), and the lazy morning sun on the deck. The cabin is comfortable and secluded. Plenty of gathering space (firepit, family game table, deck picnic area) and thoughtful extras (games, toys, cards, area brochures, etc). The last star will be added when Joe improves the access path to the cabin and perhaps adds another comfortable chair in the main living room. Owner was easy to access, punctual in response, helpful, and friendly. Choose this wonderful escape from it all and find plenty to do within a short island drive or ferry ride!

SERENITY WITH A VIEW!
We had a wonderful four day stay at the Blue Heron House. The bed was comfortable, household supplies were plentiful & easy to find and the views were spectacular! We were there in late September so we weren't lucky enough to see any whales or otters but we did see a sea lion, a couple of harbor seals, porpoises in the distance and plenty of jumping salmon! And, of course, Blue Herons; they were constant companions. Watching the boats go by, near and far, was beautiful. The weather didn't matter because the covered (and heated) porch made sitting outside enjoyable. The one caveat is to take the website's warning about the trail down to the cabin seriously and pack lightly! We will definitely pack differently next time. Our host was very thoughtful and very quick to answer any questions we had which was much appreciated!

Relaxing & Private
Walking down to the cabin is a nice workout, the path, steps and boardwalk felt secure. Just enough to make you feel like you’re roughing it a little. The cabin is right on the water, the view is super nice, Olympics, Seattle, Mt Rainier, sea lions, eagles. At high tide the waves lap at the bulkhead, low tide reveals a walkable shoreline to collect shells, rocks and sea glass. Or, sit on the covered porch, and soak in the sunrise. The cabin interior is quaint and comfortable, to relax, read, enjoy the views out the window. Cooking in the kitchen is a plus, everything you need is provided. Sleeping options are good. You can head upstairs or opt for the pullout sofa bed and sleep downstairs to have bathroom nearby w/o having to fuss with the steep staircase. If chilly, you can make a little fire in the stove, or use the electric heaters. Also, we BBQ'd in the Weber grill it was fantastic, then got a fire going in the fire pit out front and sat and enjoyed the sunset and sea lions. Visited the Suquamish Museum, 5 minutes away, what a great way to learn and take in the history of this amazing area. Overall, a nice trip and wonderful place to stay to experience this part of Washington.

Lovely
Beautiful property. Felt like I was in a boat. Water so clear with Dahls porpoises, otters, seals, cormorants and two Seagulls that would squawk at me because I think they may have been fed from the cabin before, which I did not do but I love Seagulls, so it was perfect.
