I love this place and have stayed there numerous times in the last 3 years when I am in Tacloban. I will not book anywhere else. Of course I know every experience is different depending on the person but, I know every time I am there I am treated with smiles and respect. They even greet me by my first name and also ask about my family when I am not traveling with them.

There was a sewer, gas odor in the room and also in the adjacent room that my friends were staying with. Iā€™m not sure if this was due to the construction, but it really made kind of for an unpleasant stay.

A surprise to find a lovely hotel there. There was a Valentines dinner with a large buffet an a free cocktail. The room was large and the bed comfortable. The bathroom was fine. Strong hot water. The breakfast was filipino with your choice of eggs. 5th floor bat and snscks great

I decided to stay a second night here at Ironwood Hotel. I enjoyed my experience. The air con, cleanliness and staff are outstanding. I ate at the Firegrass Tavern (Lobby Restaurant) again. I ordered the Korean Sweet & Sour Pork (see photo) and it was terrific! When I come back to Tacloban city in Leyte, Philippines I will be staying at the Ironwood Hotel.

Everything about Ironwood was outstanding: Clean room; comfortable beds; strong working shower; quick response when we asked for something. The only thing to improve would be to make the wifi stronger. Currently they are remodeling the 3rd floor. That cannot be a negative because it simply means improving the property and this will pass. Terrible conditions. Hotel room expensive given very small space, no window, 3 calls about TV not working, toilet seat broken, extremely small bathroom, no hot water. Staff nice but that is about it for anything positive.

The hotel and its furnishings look pretty old. There was a big roach in my room. Service is very slow. Before you can check out, they have to send someone to your room to check on the condition. This takes a long time and is inconvenient when rushing to your next destination. l would only recommend this hotel for 1 or 2 night stays.

Since they renovated the property, I think the property is the best one in Tacloban. I would love them give them the absolute best review ever, because the rooms are really amazing and the staff is really amazing. There are two issues that they really need to work on. The restaurant did not have many of the items on the menu. They had no pizzas, they had no sandwiches. Some of the drinks we wanted they didnā€™t have. The dining experience was annoying although the dining staff are very, very nice. The other issue is their Wi-Fi. The Wi-Fi is basically worthless. I used up my international plan on my phone every five days which got very expensive. Their Wi-Fi pretty much provides no Internet almost all the time. Again, the staff really is helpful, theyā€™re the best people Iā€™ve been countered in the Philippines. Itā€™s unfortunate that theyā€™re just a couple of areas that really need work in that hotel. Hopefully, The owner will step up and figure these things out.

Near the airport, restaurants, laundry service, and spa. It was smelly to the hallway of the 2nd floor as our room located near the common garbage bin next to the stairways, the main door created loud noise when it closed. We received the room with stinky pillow case and stains on it. We noticed staff by the stairs gossiping as if not working. The room was not big enough and the breakfast provided was limited and not convenient for individual with allergies as they have only limited serving spoon for desserts that created cross contamination. Plus parking space was limited and near pavement where guard was sitting next to staff exit door.

Seems overrated. Air conditing was poor for 2 days. First guy came to repair - he looked at it and said he would be back. After about 8 hours of no return, I called again and a different guy came. He pulled out the AC filter which looked a year old. That fixed the AC problem. Bathroom is small. Our queen room was 2 twin beds pushed together. Bedroom not the cleanest. The food in the restaurant was not good. I ordered a hamburger and it was weird meat. We ordered Calamari for room service and it was served cold. After calling it in, he took it back and microwaved it. I was not going for that. I asked for a new other - taste was awful. We had several other meals from the Firewood restaurnat that we mediocre.

Not one thing bad could I say about this place. My only go to when Iā€™m tacloban. I am currently in a luxury hotel in Manila for the week and it doesnā€™t even come close to the way I feel when at the ironwood.
