The Talasoponiente, also known as the Santagadea Sport Talaso, is a leisure center housed in an impressive modern building on the Poniente Beach. Among the highlights of the site is the aquatic area, which contains several pools. Relax in the hydro massage basin and let your kids rush down the two slides. Watch them frolic in the children’s pool and hide behind the water curtain of the cave.
Try the sauna, the steam room and the foot bath before cooling off with a cold shower. Swim in the heated outdoor pool and drift in the cross-current river. The aquatic park area offers a picturesque vista of sandy Poniente Beach.
Go to the center’s thalassotherapy area, which has a beautiful terrace. Float on top of the salty water of the hypersaline pool and sit on the bubble seats of the active seawater pool. Test the suggested circuits that include an ordered combination of spa activities.
Get fit in the personal training section and visit the various rooms replete with gym equipment such as exercise bikes. Attend a class to learn new dance routines or take part in another group activity. You can opt to join some of the aquatic classes held in the pools.
The center opens daily from early morning until almost midnight. Choose between the Short Pass and the Thalasso Pass, which includes extra spa treats.
Find the Talasoponiente at the northeastern end of Poniente Beach. The beach itself lies a little northwest of the Centro district of Gijón. Ride a bus to a stop at the back of the beach and walk to the building. See some of other sights in the area, including the city’s port and the Gijón Aquarium.
