We didn’t realize that this property was by the docks and not the one we assumed that was in The Jordaan area, so we were quite surprised to find this out. You will need to take the train to everywhere you want to go, as you’re quite far away from central Amsterdam. We also experienced 3 fire alarms and received no calls that they were false alarms.

2nf stay and it was great again!

If you like historic properties, in a central locations, this is for you. Modern gleaming bathrooms offset the darkish, rich red rooms and interiors. The lobby is small, and we were restricted to the bar lounge for dinner with a limited menu of average quality. But the high ceilings and ornate finishes are the perfect antidote if you have had enough of cool, minimalist contemporary establishments. Staff were friendly and professional, though it took a couple of requests to have the shower gel bottle refilled. Turn-down service in our double aspect junior suite on the ground floor was a nice touch. Noise from drunken revellers on the outside street at 4am less so. Mysterious false fire alarm which went without explanation was disruptive on our final morning. Would stay again if I was looking for this type of establishment within walking distance of Centraal Station. But I’d eat out for dinner.

Few little things, like the safe not working and asked about fixing it and it never happened. Beautiful decor and nice rooms.
