Sherri’s Terlingua Cabin on the Creek: Easy Access

Summary:
Sherri’s Terlingua Cabin on the Creek: Conveniently located "tiny house” with easy access.
• Tiny House on the Bank of Terlingua Creek
• Easy Access and Convenient Location
• Living Room Kitchen, Bedroom, Bath & Loft
• Located Between the Ghost Town and BBNP

The Space:
No Children Under 12 Years Old.
Sleeping Loft ceiling very is low.

Sherri’s Terlingua Cabin is a wonderful place to relax and an excellent home base for exploring the Big Bend area. You will have quick and easy access to Big Bend National Park, the Rio Grande River, Terlingua Ghost Town, and Big Bend Ranch State Park. The cabin in within easy walking distance (1/3 mile) to the famous La Kiva Bar and Grill.

Enjoy all the conveniences of home. There is a bedroom with a full-size bed, a sleeping loft with two twin beds, a bathroom, living room, and small kitchen. The sleeping loft has a low ceiling and is best suited for teens.

The living room area has a full-size futon that can be made out as a bed. There is a small TV with a built-in DVD player. We do have a few DVDs. Feel free to bring your own but you’ll probably spend more time on the porch watching the stars and Terlingua Creek.

The kitchen has a refrigerator, oven, range, microwave, toaster, coffee maker. There are also plates, silverware, glasses for your use. Pots and pans are also provided.

The bathroom is small but has a shower, toilet and sink with hot running water.

The cabin is cooled and heated by two mini split air conditioning systems.

Sherri’s Terlingua Cabin is located on a bluff above a spring fed section of Terlingua Creek. Most of the time there is just a foot or two of water in this section of the creek. But when it rains it can become a raging torrent in the canyon below the cabin. Be careful near the edge of the cliff. The ground can shift dangerously and unexpectedly.

No pets or children under the age of 12 are allowed at the cabin.

great location and easy checkin
This property is as close to the National Park as you can get while also being close to Terlingua. We used this as a base camp for exploring and it was perfect.

A good night sleep
The bed was comfortable- a much needed comfort after spending our days hiking and exploring BBNP. It was a perfect location and had everything we needed. I would highly recommend staying here for anyone who wants to stay near Big Bend.

Amazing
This cabin was perfect for our trip. Check in was so easy and the property was accurate compared to the listing. The beds were super comfortable. The shower is a little short, fine for me but a little difficult for my husband. Super cute inside. We enjoyed sitting on the porch and looking at the stars. Convenient location to restaurants in town and BBNP. If we return, we plan to stay here again!

Cabin
The cabin was really cozy and had all the essentials necessary to have a comfortable stay while there even though temperatures were in the 40’s at night. Really close to big bend national park and close to several extremely tasty restaurants.

For visiting Big Bend, there is no better place to stay. Quiet location outside of Terlingua (glad I did not stay 'in town'). Rustic, but it has everything you need. At the end of a long day of hiking, it was great to relax and be able to cook my own meal. Definitely stop in Alpine for groceries! Very clean.

Great Big Bend Location and Excellent Stargazing

Hiking in Big Bend N.P. & State Park
This cabin was a perfect location for visiting both Big Bend N.P. and Big Ben State Park. The cabin was perfect for two but surely could have accommodated four or six. We easily found it even though the street sign was down. Close to restaurants and sites and both parks. The cabin was clean with everything we needed for making our meals. The managers of the cabin were very easy to communicate with. Best part of cabin was sitting on the front porch at 3:00 am to watch the Milky Way snake across the sky!!!

Motorcycle tour
We had a great time. The property is close to all the amenities of Terlingua. Even though the cabin is right out in the open, when you are there it feels very secluded and wonderful.

Convenient and comfortable
Very close to Big Bend National Park where we spent most of our time, but also convenient to the Ghost Town of Terlingua and other sites of interest. Had a great time in the park and nice to know we were not far from "home" at the end of a busy day exploring. Property managers were very responsive to the couple of questions we had. Also had the pleasure of meeting Sherri, the owner. Would stay again!

Summer Visit
My husband and I visited the area during the beginning of June. We were pleasantly surprised that the cabin always felt cool, even during the hottest parts of the day. It is a cozy place that provided a convenient place to relax after hiking Big Bend N.P. I would most certainly stay here again.

Nice place!
If you're visiting Big Bend this place is a great option for you. It's pretty big, spacey, nice looking and the location is great. Only 1 thing the owner should know is that the A/C in the living room is very noisy. Other than that I think it's a great choice.

Big Bend Hike
This was a great cabin for our needs. We were there to hike in Big Bend National Park and Big Bend Ranch State Park for 5 days. Beds were comfortable and kitchen had everything we needed. It was very quiet and on the nights there was no cloud cover we had great views of the stars. The only thing that would have been nicer was a bigger shower as one of our party was 6’2 and weighed around 210 and he didn’t fit very well.

Great little cottage.
The house is great for two adults. The ceilings in the bedroom and bath are low. Not for tall people. The porch is very small, but I wish we had brought chairs to just sit off the porch and enjoy the creek and scenery . We loved it so much we added an extra day to our trip. Very convenient to everything!

Excellent Stay for Big Bend Adventure
Cabin was conveniently located in Study Butte, giving easy access to both Big Bend and Terlingua. The twin beds are located upstairs and requires watching one's head but are otherwise perfectly fine. The lack of Wifi might be disappointing to some but for others a welcome retreat from distractions. The only real complaints are ones that are beyond the control of the owner. Adjacent to the cabin along the creek is a large and unsightly pile of used tires that turns a picturesque location into a trashy one. Second, while La Kiva across the creek is an excellent (and super convenient) restaurant for meals, live music might keep you up later than you like after a long day of hiking. (But you can also sit on the porch and listen to it!)

Sherri's Terlingua Cabin on the Creek
We loved sitting on the porch every night looking over Terlingua Creek. We were at the house when there were two huge lightning storms. It was a thrilling show from front row seats and the next day the creek was full and flowing after a long draught. The kitchen was well equipped so we were able to cook every night. The house is also very close to everything so it's very convenient. If you're lucky, you might run into Sherri, the owner, who is a fabulous person that will share interesting information about the Study Butte--Terlingua area.

A little gem
Exactly as described, this little house is a gem. Comfortable, clean, great location, and the glider on the front porch was just so nice. Coffee, the glider, and a billion stars - it was just wonderful. I used my phone as a hot spot for WiFi, with Verizon, and it worked but was slow - only 3 G. But we were not there for the WiFi. Both parks are easy to get to, in February we needed hat nets for the gnats on a couple of hikes. We were told when the bats come back the gnats won’t be a problem! We really enjoyed the pizza at the Long Draw Pizza place, and the box lunches from the general store in Lajitas.

Overall, a good place to stay, but
We stayed a week in Sherri's cabin. Here are my observations. Pros: 1. Good location 2. Property managers were very responsive to a small issue we had with climate control and got it rectified immediately. 3. Plenty of supplies -- towels, dishes, spices and such for cooking if you're up to that 4. Easy access 5. Bedroom had plenty of room and storage 6. Interesting but functional closet for hanging clothes. Cons: 1. The shower is small but you can really consider this a "tiny house" and shouldn't expect much more. 2. The bed! I had read earlier reviews that the bed was bad, but the property managers had reported that the bed was to be replaced soon. I was hoping that the replacement would happen before we got there. I woke up with a back ache every morning until I started sleeping on the futon in the common area. The bed simply has no support. I contacted the property manager after our visit to talk about the bed and was informed that it was, in fact, a new bed. The owner of the property had recently put a new memory foam bed into the cottage. My only response was wow! One or both of two things has happened. The bed that was purchased was a cheap, inferior memory foam model and/or there was not a solid support between the mattress and the box springs. I regularly sleep on a memory foam bed at home. When it was installed, we were told to put 3/4" plywood between the mattress and the box springs because memory foam needs the support and box springs do not provide enough. Mine is great! Would I rent this again, probably not, simply because of the bed. Otherwise, yes.
