The Amish Village

Explore this authentic 1800s Amish farm, complete with farmhouse, farm animals, windmill, water wheel, smokehouse, blacksmith shop and one-room schoolhouse.

Most visitors to Lancaster County hope to immerse themselves in the area’s renowned Pennsylvania Dutch Country or Amish Country. The Amish Village is the perfect place to learn about this culture of yesteryear, which thrives alongside the modern world. Take a step back in time as you wander through the one-room schoolhouse, the 1840 Amish farmhouse, the smokehouse and the Amish crafts store.

Throughout your visit to The Amish Village, you’ll encounter the Amish culture via tours and educational stories. This family-owned business values its connections with its Amish neighbors, ensuring that your experience is respectful and authentic. Choose from two available tours: the Amish Farmhouse and Village Tour and the Backroads Bus Tour.

On the Amish Farmhouse and Village Tour, you’ll get a behind-the-scenes peek at how the Amish of Lancaster County lived in the 1800s, followed by plenty of time for self-exploration of the 12 acres (5 hectares) of the village grounds. Visit with the farm animals, shop for Amish-made crafts and souvenirs, check out the smokehouse, purchase home-baked Amish treats and stop at the one-room schoolhouse.

Aboard the popular Backcountry Bus Tour, ride in a comfortable, 14-passenger sightseeing bus, where you’ll spend 90 minutes driving along the county’s beautiful backroads, listening to stories about Amish life, history, tradition and faith, while stopping at least once at an Amish home or Amish-run business.

For an even more complete Amish cultural experience, combine your visit to The Amish Village with a stop at Lancaster County’s Amish Farm and House, with additional tours and educational experiences.

Find the Amish Village in the small farming community of Ronks. Visit and take a tour any day of the week, March through December, with the last tour departing in late afternoon. In January and February the village is open weekends only, weather permitting. The site is closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. On-site parking is available. Check the website for available tour times and prices.
