Learn about the venue’s 80-year history. The theater opened in 1937 with a screening of Norman Z. McLeod’s Pennies from Heaven, a musical comedy starring Bing Crosby. At the time it featured interior decorations inspired by circus activities. For half a century the venue presented blockbuster Hollywood movies and plays, before closing in 1987.
Today’s 612-seat theater has reopened and succeeded as the result of efforts by Tifton’s residents, who rallied together and offered donations toward its renovation and remodeling. The façade displays aspects of the art deco style, bedecked with Carrara glass and neon lights. Inside, see the walls maintaining their circus theme and reflecting the designs of the former Ringling Brothers Circus.
