The COVID-19 pandemic may have changed how we travel, but it hasn't shut down our zest for exploring. Here are some tips on how to tackle travel's new challenges:

• Understand the restrictions and rules in both your origin and destination. You may not be able to travel depending on local circumstances, so remember to check before you lock in your flight.
• Keep your face mask on even during airport screening. A TSA officer will require you to temporarily lower your mask for ID purposes.
• To decrease the risk of cross-contamination, position your boarding pass on the reader yourself and then hold it up for inspection. Do not hand your boarding pass directly to a TSA officer.
• TSA is now allowing passengers to take one container of hand sanitizer, up to 12 oz (350 ml) in size, in carry-on luggage. This will have to be removed from your bag at the X-ray machine for scanning.
• To minimize handling during the screening process, place personal items such as your wallet, phone and belt into your carry-on instead of into the bins.
• If you want to take food on the plane, place it in a clear plastic bag and then into a screening bin. This reduces the likelihood that a TSA agent will need to touch your carry-on bag or food container for inspection.
