"Once we finally were checked in, it was great! Loved the hotel and town. Self check in was a nightmare. Confirmation of reservation from the hotel was in French so I couldn’t read it. Reception closes early. "

"We arrived at 8.30 pm. We contacted the hotel before we arrived as were worried that we might miss the 8pm check in time and our email was promptly answered and we were reassured that there was provision for this. We had quite a long walk uphill to the hotel which is well positioned just below the medieval town but if you arrived before 6pm there is a bus service up to the public car park near the hotel. We had a two night stay and our room was very traditional, small but comfortable with a decent bathroom. The bed was comfortable and we had a lovely view out of the window. We hadn't booked breakfast but were able to take it for the two mornings and just pay at reception on checkout. There was a good set of choices for the breakfast and helpful staff. There was a nice balcony to eat breakfast on but unfortunately it wasn't quite warm enough for us on the days we were there. We could also have eaten other meals at the adjacent hotel restaurant. As already stated the hotel is very well appointed to easily walk up into the medieval village and there are some lovely walks around. The walk down to the station and cheese making experience attraction is quite easy with good views to the surrounding countryside. Entry was free with our Swiss pass and we found it very interesting. There area also busses from the station into the nearby town of Bulle."

"We had a wonderful stay at St George's hotel. All the staff is so friendly, and especially Ana at the front desk, she just can't do enough for us. We appreciated all the details and attentiveness. One must stay there if ever to visit the Gruyère ville. "

"Even though I don’t think it was intentional our check-in was a bit off putting. The air conditioning or fan didn’t work, quite stuffy so we had to leave windows open all night. Only one low pillow, found this uncomfortable even though bed comfortable. Carpets quite stained. Breakfast was 27CHF ($46 AUD each) felt this was very expensive. Pleased there was plenty of free parking. Easy walk into town centre."
