Permit #: 003242
Occupancy: 8

Enjoy majestic lakefront views of the sunrise, sunset, and surrounding Sierra Nevada at this Donner Lake retreat, a waterfront home with a buoy, two tree-lined decks, and nearby access to beaches, tennis, and world-class skiing. This three-level home sits directly on the southern shores of Donner Lake, only one mile from boat rentals, barbecue areas, and tennis and basketball courts at West End Beach. You'll be just a few steps from the water's edge, five miles east of Sugar Bowl Resort and seven miles east of Boreal Mountain Resort.

You'll immediately feel at home in the great room, a showcase of alpine character with lofty cathedral ceilings and a wall of windows that frame the forest and lake. Grab a few logs to build a fire in the stone hearth, curl up with a good book, or catch up with friends and family on one of the comfortable leather sofas. You'll have all the necessary appliances to whip up a homemade breakfast in the full kitchen, bar seating, an open dining space, and a dishwasher to handle the clean-up.

Spend your summer days swimming, water-skiing, or wakeboarding in the crystal clear waters of Donner Lake, fishing or dangling your feet from the pier, and gazing at the mirror-like reflection of the mountains at sunset. Pull up a beach chair to enjoy the view, light the gas grill for a barbecue dinner, and retreat to the two-level deck for an evening of cocktails and cards.

On snowy winter nights, you can make popcorn and hot chocolate as you use the WiFi to check the next morning's mountain conditions. You'll also have a large cable TV, DVD player, and VCR in the living room - the perfect cozy spot for family movie nights.

On the ground floor, you'll find a private laundry room. Climb the ladder from the great room to reach the large upstairs loft, where children and fun-loving friends will delight in the beds beneath the eaves.

The gorgeous scenery of the Sierras will be right outside your door - don't miss out on this beautiful Donner Lake home!

Awesome Cabin!
We had a great stay at this cabin! The living area and set up was great for us. This is a very good cabin, clean, good kitchen, and some outdoor living space that is really fun. While we were there we enjoyed the deck and hanging out on the dock. Being on the lake is the best!

Lake Front
Location and private dock are the BEST part of cabin. Too bad there were bags of trash in the house when we got there, moldy shower curtains, broken drapery rods and broken stair railing. Kids had a great time fishing and swimming.

Great location, property could use some basic stuff
Perfect location, rustic older house, enough sleeping quarters. Would be greatly enhanced w some easy and basic things for a rental, like salt! Some games would be great to have too: they have a chess table but no pieces. Just needs some attention and love to make this a great rental.

Beautiful location by the lake
The house met all our expectations for the stay. Lots of space for the kids to run around and play and their "privacy" on the loft. The driveway is steep and was plowed only once during our stay, so we opted to park up next to the road and had to carry everything back and forth through the driveway. Other than this small inconvenience during a very snowy period, it was great!

Winter Weekend
Overall this was a great house for a weekend trip to the snow. Plenty of space and beds, as well as amazing views. We were an easy drive to Tahoe Donner for skiing, as well as Truckee for restaurants, etc. My feedback would to bring anything you might need for cooking that isn't the appliance or cookware (including oils, condiments, coffee/tea, etc.). Also, do not park in the driveway during the winter. Luckily we didn't, because the plow never came and we would have been stuck.

Not that great
We walked through the front door and saw that the floors were very dirty with pine needles and smelled garbage which wasn’t taken out. Bummer.

Beautiful view and dock, house questionable
The view and location and dock were amazing. The house is in desperate need of updating and remodeling. It was clean but several issues. The downstairs bathroom shower would not work correctly, the dishwasher was hit and miss, the small downstairs bed had rats or mice eating away at one corner! We didn't discover that until the bed was stripped down at the end of our stay. I desperately wanted to go to a garage sale to update some of the decor-it was bad. With a little bit of updating it would be so nice because the view and location is so nice. Somebody please give this place some love!!

Subpar rental I wouldn't recommend
This is the worst rental we've ever stayed at. The house was not clean enough, especially in times of COVID. Corners and under heater register filled with old dust. Curtains torn from rod. Beds were uncomfortable, old and sagging in the middle. Quilts did not appear clean and were barely big enough to cover two people. Some dishes and cups were dirty in cupboard and pasta server dirty. No pot large enough to cook pasta for a family. Outdoor toys, sleds, chairs were dirty and messy looking. etc. etc. Location, deck in front, the beautiful lake were great.

Rough diamond
Located on the water was really nice. Decks and dock are kind of rough. All the basics are there. Some are just barely more than basic. Possibilities to be fantastic. We had a good time.

Absolutely perfect location. It is a water front! View is awesome! The house a little short on utensils, plates. Other than that - we had a great time!!!

Great Lakeside Cabin
It's a classic lake cabin. It's older, but we'll maintained. Kitchen has all the equipment you'll need to cook. Bedrooms are large. The master bedroom downstairs is huge. Awesome lakefront view with two spacious decks. Dock seems solid.

Rustic serenity
This is a great rustic cabin right on the lake with a dock. The house is not about the luxury. There was plenty of room for everyone to sleep. The master has a king bed and has an old school according folding divider wall that worked out good for the cousin and her family who has 2 younger children and the loft has 4 single beds. For our family it worked perfectly. Our family is all about outdoor activities. We brought two boats (sail and power) as well as kayas and paddleboards and the dock was perfect for what was needed. We enjoyed the rustic nature of the cabin and being able to wake up and grab some coffee and go sit out on the dock was fantastic. Great, affordable summer rental on the lake.

Nice location / over priced for current condition
Lovely location but over priced for the current condition of house, dock, beds etc. Perfectly suitable for a large group but the dock, decks in need of repair and the beds are old. Enjoyed our stay but wouldn’t rent again unless property was upgraded or the price point dropped.

Bring blow up beds
The place overall is rustic I get it however you have to have decent beds to sleep in. There is not a bed in the house that fits on the box spring or that is comfortable. When you pay that much for a place you expect the bed and the linens to be on the nicer side. I don’t feel like the owners take any bride in owning this home. Nice location. They might have some nicer stuff at goodwill now that you can decorate the house with. I gave 3 stars for communicating with manager but I didn’t considering contacting them since they have gotten reviews like this before and nothing has been done nothing.

Family time
A family get-a-way is always lovely. Time spent together is priceless. We overlooked and worked with this old property that is in need of many repairs. Rotting wood planks, broken drapes, worn out plugs for charging phones, upper bathtub backed up, lower tub/shower came on at same time. We played games, fished (dock was unstable & had broken supports) & made our time together very special.

A great place to stay, if you stay outside.
EVERYTHING in the house is on it's last leg. There was ONE chair to sit on outside, all other ones were broken or rotted. The outdoors was beautiful too bad there weren't any chairs to sit on and enjoy it. All the dining room table and chairs were wobbly and about to break. I counted 40 random nails and screw sticking out of the walls. Seriously the bed was the worst bed I have ever slept in. It was at least 40 years old. I am someone who lives pretty simply or doesn't need much, but this place is a dump. I will say the plates, bowls and glasses were new and great. Although I could only find one spoon. The upper deck, lower deck and the dock were full of rotten wood. This place is falling apart to where I feel like it is a liability. Oh ya, the front door is an hollow core interior door. Although we were very uncomfortable, the house and everything in it gave us a pretty good laugh. The location is amazing, right on the lake. Just be careful walking on the dock as it is falling apart.
