Seems like a safe area. Was greeted with a smile and sweet gal at the front desk. Answered all of our questions graciously. The building is a bit run down, elevator makes an interesting noise at times. I’ve seen cleaner floors, but the bedding was clean and beds are comfortable. All in all, it was an ok hotel for our one night stay.

We were on the 3rd floor and the elevator stopped working 30 minutes after we arrived and was still out of order when we left. Some of the towels very worn and shabby. The breakfast was terrible, very weak coffee, juice dispenser out of order, gravy but no biscuits, no muffins or pastries. Very few restaurants in the town, only hamburger places and a couple of mexican restaurants. The town was very shabby and run down, and didn't feel very safe. We won't be stopping in Tucumcari again.

I liked that a text was sent beforehand so we had little to do when we arrived. We checked out at about 5 a.m., but no one was at the desk. We got a text message at about 8 a.m. and marked that we had already left. Lots of eating options close by, and easy access to the highway.
