"The property has an attractive top floor and good seating outside and lovely views of the Douro. It’s billed as being ideal for families who want to holiday together but have their own space but this isn’t really the case. "We arrived late in pouring rain! Maria had forwarded a video of how to get to the property, unfortunately as we were coming from the North our Sat nav took us a different route which was along a v narrow bridge over a river. The property is at the end of a v steep road 1/10. We had to drive very slowly and I feel I confident drivers would find this hard. The property was exactly as we had seen online. Classy Covelo

"Covelo-Original is exactly what a small guesthouse should be. Our stay was perfect. The Covelo is in the heart of old town and steps away from restaurants and just over the bridge is the religious centre. The room had everything needed (fridge, kettle, coffeemaker, all of which aren’t common in a POR room). The bed was incredibly comfortable and the building has been renovated and modernized yet maintains both original and quirky charm. Staff are amazing and they go the extra step providing handy local info. They even go so far as providing a WhatsApp contact should help be required “after hours”. I highly recommend The Covelo, one of the best guesthouses I have ever visited. "
