"I came in December, which is their low season, so I was basically one of the very few people staying at the hotel. The receptionist was only around for the check-in. The cleaning staff only showed up once. The rest of the time, they expect you to call if you need help, which is not realistic for foreign travellers, especially if you are not fluent in French or Italian. The building is locked, so basic safety is not an issue. However, when the internet went out, I had no way to contact anyone...

A small terrace outside was where our breakfast was served, and this was superb. The secluded location served to teem with songbirds, I've rarely heard so many welcome the start of the day. "A brilliant construction and location in the stunning gorge location. Lovely room and large patio to enjoy breakfast alongside the roaring river. Parking was manageable at the roadside, and the lift ideal between floors. The owner and waitress were charming and informative, but we were both startled and disappointed at the continuing grumbles from the receptionist, especially when asked about messages that my daughter had sent there."

"I’d like to write about this apartment, but can’t because, despite booking and paying for it 5 weeks in advance, the apartment was given to someone else. We didn’t meet the owner either who, when we phoned him, we were told he’d made an ‘error’, and that was the end of the conversation. Perhaps a mistake, but probably not, and the inconvenience of having to find other accommodation at 8.00 in the evening was unbelievable (Corte has real accommodation shortages). I don’t recommend anyone...
