Greenwood Farm log cabin close to the Bourbon Trail and Keeneland

It is a 200 year old log cabin in Woodford County on a cattle farm owned by the same family since the late 1700’s. It is located just 3.7 miles from the Kentucky Bourbon Trail, with 5 distilleries within 10 miles. It is a 20 minute drive to Keeneland and the Bluegrass airport, 35 minutes to the KY Horse Park and 1 hour to Churchill Downs. A great location for anyone attending the Keeneland races or planning to follow the Bourbon Trail.
The space
The cabin has 1 BR with a double bed downstairs, 2 BRs with 2 twin beds in each room upstairs, 1 BA downstairs and fireplaces in the LR and downstairs BR. The original log potion of the cabin contains the LR and the 3 BRs. The kitchen, study and bathroom are three steps down from the original portion, and the sunroom is 1 step down from the kitchen. Gates are available in the case of small children to avoid falls down the steps. Guests need to take care when using the steps to the upstairs and the steps going from one portion of the cabin to the other since they are narrow and very steep. This is common with old cabins. There is a smart TV in the LR with Netflix available. The kitchen is fully equipped with a gas stove and a dining area. The study has a dedicated work space and Wi-Fi is available. The sunroom has a second dining area, and the washer and dryer. The bathroom has a shower/bath, hair dryer and towel warmer. There is a deck at the back with a propane grill. There are two closets, one in the sunroom and one in an upstairs bedroom. A hat rack and wall pegs have been provided for additional hanging space. Parking is definitely free. The cabin is secluded and peaceful, surrounded by mature trees with areas for walking and just enjoying nature.
Guest access
Guests are encourage to walk and enjoy the farm but are not permitted in any barns or fenced areas even if gates are open. There is no swimming, wadding or ice skating allowed on the pond, which is not fence and contains snapping turtles. Also any farm machinery is off limits. This is a working farm, and we want guests, as well as the livestock to remain safe. A map of the farm is included in the "Cabin Manual " with the areas guests are allowed marked.
Other things to note
Pets must be on a leash and children must be supervised at all times for their safety and the safety of the cattle and horses. Some of the fencing is electric so additional care should be taken when close to those fences. There are some signs marking this type of fencing. This is not a good choice for someone with mobility issues because of the steps going from one section of the cabin to another. They are very narrow and steep.

I wish I could give Greenwood Farm Log Cabin a 10+ star rating. The cabin is absolutely perfect. There's so much history, in the cabin. Nicky and Campbell's farm is absolutely breathtaking, and peaceful. They were so kind to our family, and let us join in with feeding the horses. The location, of the cabin, is in a great location for touring and shopping. After touring and visiting family, it was a special treat, to sit on the front porch, and watch the fireflies dance throughout the summer night. It was surreal, to see the morning view, from the front porch. The Kentucky morning fog lingering over the property, as the horses walked around in their own field. Absolutely breathtaking. The Kentucky sunset is breathtaking, too. We were sad to leave the beautiful cabin. My family is already making plans to reserve the cabin, for next years trip.

Delightful
We very much enjoyed the cabin/house, especially the history. So glad the original structure is still there and the decorating fits the time period. It is also well appointed. I had fun imagining the original owners. The location is so peaceful yet central to many attractions. I definitely recommend the property.

Bourbon Trail
This was the perfect spot for this group and our trip. It is centrally located to all of the distilleries in the area as well as restaurants. The cabin is not only an incredible piece of history, but well renovated and comfortable. The sunset from the back porch and 360 degree view of the land is amazing! Fresh continental breakfast upon our arrival with fresh ground coffee was a nice touch, and communication with Nicky (our host) was easy and timely. It was an incredible experience - I highly recommend, and would love to return my next time there.

Peaceful & Relaxing
My wife, dog Brody and I recently spent 2 nights at the Cabin on our way to Tennessee. If you are looking for a peaceful and relaxing get away then the Cabin is it. This cabin, originally built in 1750, sits on a 600 acre family horse farm. It has been beautifully remodeled to its original state including a modern bathroom and kitchen along with time period appropriate antique furnishings. We enjoyed sitting in the rocking chairs on the front porch and taking a walk on the farm with Brody. He loved seeing cows for the first time! I highly recommend going to The Stave for great dinner and drinks, Rolling Oven Taproom for pizza and beer, Woodford Reserve Distillery, some of the local wineries and just driving around to see all the horse farms.

Our family of 4 and our dog had a truly wonderful time at the cabin. It's located on a beautiful property, with cows and horses grazing on rolling fields all around you, and the cabin is thoughtfully appointed, beautifully decorated and teems with history. Everything you need is there. The best part are the hosts who are wonderful people, and were a joy to meet. Thank you so much for such a memorable stay!

Kentucky getaway
We had a phenomenal time! The cabin was adorable, spotless, had such charm and so rich in history. The hosts were so easy to communicate with and so thoughtful in many ways; from leaving lights on because we arrived after dark to fresh butter and seasonal fruit, cooking items, coffee and a history and pictures of the home going back well over 125 years! The home was so welcoming. We were able to enjoy the landscape and farm and able to take in some peaceful views of the working farm and livestock. The home is in a great location and near so many things while still having the quiet and distance of a relaxing atmosphere. Sunrise walks were breathtaking and we cannot wait to go back and spend more time! Thank you for sharing your cabin with us!
