"Warm cosy and comfortable property with 'character' and in a good location for visiting Vézelay and area. Renovated and modernised inside to a good standard, with pleasant outdoor seating areas. Bring your own teapot if you need one! A useful bread van comes 3 times a week with baguettes. Nearest village shops (in St Père) are about a 10 minute drive. Neither our 'school' French nor the owners' English was good so the booking process via the web site emails wasn't easy. The whole booking process...

Rustic village with good supermarket next to pretty river Yonne, Excellent tarmac cycle path along nearby canal du Nivernais. Lots of wine tasting. Recommend visiting Noyers, Auxerre, Vezelay. "The house is located rural, next to a unpaved road en a small stream. It is not luxury but wel equipped and comfortable. It offer a lot value for money. Due to the trees it is relatively cool on hot summer days. In Lormes , which has a nice atmosphere, there are supermarket, several good shops for food and some cafe’s. The surrounding is suited for some shorter day trips and for walking. For cooling down on hot days there is a small lake at a 15 minutes walk from the house"

Le parking est assez large pour faire demi-tour et stationner un petit fourgon avec remorque et zodiac. A 10 min du lac de Crescent, 20 min du lac de Chaumeçon. A 15 min environ Quarré les tombes, petite supérette, pharmacie (excellente pharmacienne!), bar, restaurants, etc... 1 semaine de déconnexion...

"There were a number of broken items at the property, outdoor chairs, sun bed, table, glass porch area. Both showers drained very poorly- one was incredibly blocked & we had to clean this out. The strict rules for the property- all breakages would be 30 Euros, felt unfair due to the already damaged furniture in arrival. We certainly left the house in a cleaner state than when we arrived too. The house itself was a large beautiful property, just needed a bit of TLC"

"We were very happy with the offering at this hotel, we were able to secure a room for Friday night on short notice. The staff were very friendly and we experienced the most efficient check in of any hotel. Very quick, no wasted effort, and a friendly exchange with the counter staff. After a change of shift overnight, the staff continued to be friendly and engaging with the customers. The room is as advertised, everything is comfortable and clean. Very acceptable level of quality, it is not fancy or boutique yet it is a very high value offering for the price point. We had the breakfast, that was as advertised with a good variety on offer, much more than a simple continental breakfast. I would return here again anytime. "

Beautiful and special property

"We were all buzzing around with excitement at this property when we arrived. The kids thought it was incredible! It's such an old building, full of history and not spoiled in its renovation, it was still so characterful. The kids loved that we restricted the flow of the water at night to quieten it down, and then released it every morning - we got lucky as the water wheel does not always turn but we got some movement out of it! The house is rustic, and not full of mod-cons, but it had pretty much everything we needed. The outside eating area was lovely for bbqs, and the garden lovely and big for games. The house has a lovely mezzanine library level at the top that the kids enjoyed relaxing in. We really enjoyed visiting Guedelon, a castle that is being built from scratch in medieval style, using only crafts and skills from that period in history, it was truly a fabulous day out. Lovely villages to visit in the area are Vezelay, a very pretty and ancient village up on a hilltop, and we also loved Druyes-les-Belles-Fontaines with its castle overlooking the village with the river and waterways routed all through the streets. So pretty. It's a drive to a shop or Patisserie from the house and unfortunately the patisserie was shut for the week we were there, but the supermarket in Varzy had everything we needed. We also visited Clemecy a couple of times to explore the shops and old buildings, and watch the boats going through the canal locks. Thank you for a wonderful week. "
