The Welfenschloss is a former castle set amid beautifully landscaped gardens. The imposing 19th-century structure today forms part of the Leibniz University of Hannover and is open to visitors. Capture photos of the extraordinary building and admire its towers and turrets.

Bring snacks and drinks and set up a picnic in the scenic environment of the Welfengarten park that surrounds the castle. Enjoy the youthful atmosphere around this university building. Capture photos of the magnificent castle, which now contains the university’s technology center.

See the bronze sculpture of the Sachsenross, which portrays a rearing horse that is a symbol on the state’s coat of arms. Gaze up at the statue of a warrior known as Henry the Lion standing above the main entrance.

Ride the tram to the Hannover Christuskirche or Leibniz Universität stops, which are on the southern end of the park. Visit nearby landmarks, such as the Christ Church, the Luther Church and the Georgengarten.
