About this property

Welcome in our cottage ! Come and enjoy the West of Flanders

Our cottage is extremely suited for those who want to leave their stressed life behind for a while and for those who want to enjoy the countryside. Although many touristical places and attractions can also be found in the West of Flanders.
There’s a lot to experience in the West of Flanders. People who like culture or the countryside, families with young children, everybody can have a splendid holiday here. A stay in the countryside can give you a peaceful feeling. And all this in the middle of the sacred ground of Ypres, where thousands of British soldiers gave their lives during the First World War.
Ideal home for those who prefer not to climb stairs.
Bathroom and one bedroom are on the first floor.

This was a perfect spot for touring not just Passchendaele but also further afield. Managed Ghent and Brugge without too much hassle. It was really nice to come back to the house. Some great restaurants no more than five miles away including Den Artiest and Restaurant Historic. Good Spar in Dadizele with a great range of food. Highly recommend the accommodation. Marc the Host was brilliant.

An incredible place with terrific hosts
My wife and I stayed here betwern RWC2023 games and to explore Belgium and, in particular, the WW1 history. It could not be located better. Right in the country with easy access to Passchendale, Ypres, Menin Gate etc, and a short drive into Bruges (Marc recommended parking at the station which was great, only €6.90 for a day, easy to dind and big spaces). The place is spotlessly clean with everything you need, including a huge amount of literature on WW1 history, museums and walks (The Pallinbeek/ Hill 60 walk is worth it as they have planted hedges where the German/ Allied trench lines lay so you get a really good feel). Rooms are comfy and everything is to hand. Marc and Stien even left a supply of dishwasher tablets, liquid, tea-towels, kitchen foil, cling film etc which was a nice touch. The kitchen knives were razor sharp, which I absolutely loved. The local village (Dadizeele) was pleasant and has a nice couple of eateries - we used De Klook which was busy with pensioners (always a good sign) and it was great. We would recommend this VRBO home, just take insect repellent if you are out and about. Brilliant place and lovely people.

Perfect Belgian Getaway
We LOVED this property. It wasn't exactly in the area we had originally planned on staying but we booked it based on the reviews and it didn't disappoint. It is in a quiet farming area with views over the surrounding countryside. The house has 3 bedrooms, one downstairs and two upstairs. There is a very large kitchen, dining and living space with TV, DVD player and selection of DVDs. The outdoor space is immaculate with a large patio table, lawn and outdoor fireplace. The owner provided a wide assortment of brochures and books about the surrounding areas in several languages and he pulled out specific information about things he thought might interest us ahead of our arrival. We did lose hot water at one point but Marc came and fixed it within 15 minutes of us notifying him of the problem. We wish we could have stayed longer.

Best place to visit Flanders area from.
My husband and my parents and I stayed in Marc’s house for a week and I can’t say enough good things about this house! The location is absolutely perfect for touring WW1 sights and Bruges, yet it is a perfect quiet oasis away from the hustle and bussle of bigger cities. The photos do not do the house justice, it is truly lovely, and very modern. The kitchen is well equipped and large. The honestly beer fridge is an excellent addition and gives an extra fridge. Marc is a wonderful host and provides lots of information for touring the area. I can’t wait to do a return trip. Shelagh Canada

Great place to stay to visit WW1 sites including Ypres and Tyne cot cemetery, also visited Bruges for the day. The house is clean and well equipped, and we particularly enjoyed the barbecue, beer collection in the honesty fridge (brilliant idea), the bikes and the darts!

Welcoming, spacious, peaceful, well situated house with beautiful views
The house more than met our needs. Marc met us at the house and was very welcoming, explaining all that we needed to know about the house. There were many books and guides /maps about the area for our use. Our aim for the stay was to visit many of the WW1 sites and memorials - this was easily achieved as the house is ideally situated being about and hour and half from Thiepval and many of the Somme memorials and only minutes away from Passchendaele, Tyne Cot and very close to Ypres. The house itself was very comfortable and all needs were catered for with comfortable beds, a well equipped kitchen - the ‘honesty fridge’ with all Belgian beers was a huge hit! We hope to return again soon and would definitely recommend the house . Many thanks

Our stay whilst we toured the battle fields
If you are looking to do a relaxing holiday or have a base for touring the sites of the war, this house is a must to stay in. Perfect in all aspects from modern to cosy, with everything you could wish for. Stunning views over Flanders, and the most perfect host in Marc. Nothing could be too much trouble, and we were put at ease straight away with his friendly manner. We have just had the best 4 day trip that we have had any where, and will most certainly be booking to stay here again....Fantastic 5 star ....many thanks Marc, see you again

Cozy house with beautiful view of Flanders
We enjoyed Marc hospitality in their lovely, cozy house. This house had everything that we wanted away from our home. Marc was waiting for us when we arrived and went through details very thoroughly. It was well placed for our day visit to Bruges and Ghent. Thank you!

Peaceful, spotless and spacious!
We were a family of 5 staying in Marc’s lovely holiday home for a week in August. The decoration and furnishing is modern and fresh and everything is spotless. There is an honesty bar for Belgian beers which my husband loved. The area is very quiet and peaceful, just right if you want to get away from it all. We walked to the local town which took about 30 minutes, full of local bars and restaurants, with pavement seats for lovely weather. We managed to catch a cycle race through the streets - a very popular pastime in Belgium. A must do is visit to Ypres in the evening, At 8pm every night The Last Post is played under the Menin Gate, a very poignant moment for our whole family. On a lighter note Bellewaerde theme park and wildlife park is well worth while for families, also the northern Belgium beaches are only 45 minutes away. Marc was an excellent host, answering email and text questions from us very promptly before and during our stay. Thank you very much.

Lovely cottage in an ideal location
We spent a fabulous week in Flanders staying in this lovely cottage. The owners Marc & Stien were so friendly and welcoming when we arrived. The house itself was beautifully presented, well equipped and had everything we could want for our stay. The location is lovely and peaceful but ideally placed to visit all the WW1 sites. It was lovely to sit in the garden in the evening and watch the sun going down after a busy day sightseeing. Would definitely return again!

Amazing place, remote, quiet, but in walking distance of a local establishment. Bike ride or drive to others and within easy reach of Ypres.(Ieper) Immaculate condition and very comfy. Very good communication from the owner Marc and useful guided tour on check in of all the amenities and honesty bar (nice touch) Lovely well kept garden, wish we had more time and could have used the bbq. Ample parking, bikes available if required, dvd, games and books for those quiet nights in.

Spacious, quiet, clean and comfortable.
We had four great weeks staying at Terrand holiday house. We loved the light spacious modern kitchen and kitchen table with the outlook over the back garden and neighbouring fields. We loved the super comfortable bed in the downstairs bedroom where we slept like logs as the location is so quiet. We loved the big walk-in shower in the bathroom. My husband loved the honesty bar of local beers! In the evenings we could watch English channels on tv or choose a board game to play, or read one of the selection of books about the region. The house was an ideal base for us to explore the Westhoek area - mainly by bike (and we left our bikes at the house for future guests to use). The nearby town of Dadizele is an easy bike ride away and has a variety of shops and cafes, including a supermarket. I recommend the pancakes with fresh fruits at De Klokke. The goats cheese salad at Marhaba was delicious too. Marc, the owner of Terrand, was very hospitable and helpful. He was great. Any questions or problems we had he got onto straight away - nothing was too much trouble. Plus he gave us lots of good ideas and tips on places to go. One of his recommendations was a little bar five minutes walk way in Ter Hand that’s only open on Sunday mornings and the first Friday evening of the month. We only managed to get there once, but it was great fun - a mecca for cyclists, and the host there knew all about us and was very welcoming. Most days we were out exploring West Flanders, enjoying its countryside and villages and learning about its WWI history. We also did day trips by train to Antwerp, Brussels and Gent from nearby Menen station. And everyday it was always so nice to look forward to returning home to our little holiday home of Terrand.

A perfect place
Not only is the house perfect for anyone wishing to explore Flanders but it is also just simply a wonderful house. Everything and more that you could wish for in a holiday let is there and is so beautifully appointed. A very comfortable living and dining area; a lovely kitchen with a wonderful view to rolling Flanders farmland; a fine shower room and wc and 3 excellent bedrooms. Plus, of course, a wonderful host who has thought of everything including an honestly bar with beautiful Belgian beer (which of course was well utilised!). All of this at a very reasonable price. There is truly nothing that cannot be spoken highly enough about this house. I and my friends, heartedly recommend it. Thank you Marc and Stein.

perfect
Had a wonderful stay here, Marc was very welcoming. upon arrival we were greeted with a smile and a lovely bottle of wine. The house is beautiful, very modern and practical downstairs and very rustic upstairs. the garden is large and laid to lawn, ideal for the kids to run around, which they enjoyed. wonderful collection of books, dvd's and CD's. Board games, pens and paper for the kids. The wood burner made the evenings very cosy, The honesty fridge was delightful and extremely well stocked. prices are fair. We went out during the day to see the various markets and the war memorials, the local villages and towns are beautiful. Very clean (i cannot get over how clean everywhere was compared to our streets at home), lots to see and do. we never had nothing to do. Local people are extremely friendly and in our experience were great with our children offering tastes of chocolates and teaching a little of their language which the kids loved. We stayed in and cooked local produce for evening meals and watched dvd"s or played games, the kitchen is spacious and bright. there is ample crockery but could do with a full set of utensils and oven trays (we brought some disposable ones) Well stocked for cleaning up after ourselves also, everything you need is supplied even dish cloths and washing up liquid although there is a dishwasher too. use of washing machine and dryer was good, we truly had a wonderful stay here and will defiantly be back in the warmer months. my only disappointment was not being able to stay longer. Thank you marc and stein for a wonderful christmas stay.

Wonderful host! Superb property! Excellent location! Loved our stay!
Marc was very helpful and considerate from our first contact. (His written directions especially helped when our GPS put his location about 700 meters down the road!!!) As soon as we drove up the driveway we felt at home. What a gorgeous setting among lush fields. Huge backyard. Quiet and peaceful! Marc met us at the property and showed us how everything worked. The interior was outstanding! Clean, vibrant, welcoming, modern, very well equipped. There were many highlights we especially enjoyed. There was a delicious bottle of French wine for us as a welcoming gift. A large number of books, maps, and guides were available which helped us greatly in planning our days. Marc had a refrigerator dedicated to a wide variety of Belgian beers as well as a cabinet full of beer glasses corresponding to each brand. We could help ourselves using an honor system to track what we owed him at the end of our stay. (We tried them all!)The wood burning stove made for cozy evenings reading on the couch. We sat in the backyard each evening with some bread, fine cheeses, pate, wine and enjoyed the fresh air, panoramic view of the countryside, and the peace and quiet. So peaceful there. Marc's property is ideally situated close to many, many WW1 historical sites and memorials. Ypres is only 17 km away. Easy access to many nice places to see and visit. We easily made a day trip to Brugges. What an amazing city! A must see for any visitor. Our only regret is that we didn't have more time to stay in Belgium. Beautiful countryside. Friendly, helpful people. Great beers. Delicious foods. Steeped in history. Marc's property became our home and we were a little sad to leave his wonderful place. Thank you so much Marc for everything. You made our stay truly memorable.

Lovely well equipped house in great location
We stayed for three nights - we travelled to Belgium for the Passchendale centenary commemoration. The house is perfectly situated to explore the WW1 sites and for getting to Ypres. There is plenty to do - lots of well marked cycling , walking, running routes as well as the sights. The house was perfect - clean and well equipped - had everything we needed for a family of four adults. We enjoyed the barbeque and sitting round the fire pit watching the amazing sunset with a beer from Marc's well stocked honesty fridge. Marc is a very helpful and welcoming host. Would highly recommend staying here.

Immaculately presented house situated in a very peaceful, rural yet incredibly convenient location
Terrand is an immaculately presented house situated in a very peaceful, rural yet incredibly convenient location. Marc has made sure that you need for nothing when staying at Terrand, literally add yourselves and food!! The children were over the moon when they found out that there was wi-fi and a football!! And they enjoyed burning off extra energy in the garden. The major town on Ypres, Hill 60, Tyne Cot and Passendale are only a short drive away (within 20 minutes). A little further afield there is Brugge and Ghent a little under an hour to the East and St Omer a little over an hour to the west. There is a route to follow for car drivers which takes in many historical sites, For the more active there are well sign posted cycle routes and walking routes. Bellewaerde theme park was welcome day of fast rides, for the little thrill seekers! They also had a variety of animals in their zoo. I would highly recommend Terrand, it provides a welcome retreat from the hectic lives which we lead today. Many thanks

Lovely quiet location in the Belgian countryside
Marc greeted us at the property and even took me to the local Spar to get some groceries (and had a bottle of wine in the fridge for us). Very helpful and friendly. We wish we had stayed longer as one night wasn't enough - we could have easily stayed a couple more nights and explored the local area more. A great location for visiting the war memorial sites of Ypres/Passendale
