Only 2.5 hours mostly scenic drive from Auckland, or 30 minutes from Whangarei, Taurikura Bay is located near the end of the Whangarei Heads peninsula. The house is in a prime elevated location, opposite to the Bays beaches and many popular hiking trails.
Taurikura Bay is truly an awesome spot to vacation and has so much to offer. You can do as much or as little as you like and the weather is rarely an issue. Whangarei Heads is a kiwi sanctuary.
Stunning water views over the bay and up to the magnificent Mt Manaia. Safe swimming beaches only just metres away. Watch the sun set and/or the lights of the oil refinery light up on the other side of the harbour from the deck or your bed.
Bach is a traditional 'Kiwi Bach', very tidy with its own charm.
Plenty of fishing and diving from the shore or from a boat. All tide boat launching ramp (AWD or 4x4 recommended except full tide). Snapper and scallops 50 to 100m off shore.
Access straight into the Whangarei harbour! The Whangarei Harbour is a large aquatic playground, perfect for fishing, diving, and swimming, boating and more extreme water sports. It is also the gateway to the outer Islands (Hen and Chicken Islands so close) and an endless coastline.
Safe and calm waters perfect for paddle boarding and all water activities. Enjoyable fun time for the kids. Many beautiful bays to kayak and explore.
Stunning Ocean beach 10 minutes’ drive (sandy surf /swimming beach with life savers in summer).
Local item of historical significance right over the road, all natural jetty.
A beautiful area overlooked by too many who continue north of Whangarei.
