Oma and Opa's Northern Lights Cabin

Our cabin is an ideal location for Northern Lights viewing in the Whitehorse area, there is no light pollution and a perfect view of the northern sky from the comfort of the cabin. Our property is surrounded by Yukon Wilderness, endless trails and nearby historic Lake Laberge. The cabin is newly constructed in 2016, private, clean and comfortable. Our place is well suited for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, and families (with kids).

This is a 2 room log cabin. There is a bedroom and full bathroom with toilet, sink, shower and heated floor. The main room contains a futon and dining table and kitchenette along one wall. It is conveniently heated with electric baseboards, so regardless of the outside temperature it is always as warm as you want it to be. We have large thoughtfully placed windows in the main room that allow for watching Northern Lights and the feeling of the outdoors inside. The kitchen is equipped with double induction cooktops, a microwave, electric kettle, toaster, coffee press, under counter refrigerator, pots and pans, dishes and flatware, and dish washing supplies. There is a bedroom with a Queen bed and in the main area there is a sofa bed which is ideal for one adult but can fit two snugly.
Wireless internet is available in the cabin and outside as well.

The cabin is located about 100 meters from our residence. It faces north and offers privacy and a wonderful view of the Miner's Range and the mountains on the east side of Lake Labarge. Parking is directly next to the cabin. The large mowed field in front of the cabin can be used for ball games or the like, or for setting up your tripod to photograph the northern lights. There is a nice big campfire area with benches in front of the cabin for your use. Firewood is provided and there is a grill if you want to cook something over the fire.

We have a large network of trails we access from our yard. We are happy to share these trails with guests but ask that you don't use motorized vehicles on them.

We loved the cozy beautiful little cabin in the woods of Yukon. We went to see the aurora and did 3 nights. Due to La Nina, clouds were more frequent than we hoped. The wifi bandwidth was solid. We found our phones unable to navigate on the weak LTE cell signal when we got away from the cabin. We enjoyed the trail to "Happy Hour Rock" with its view of Lake Lebarge. The nearby Yukon Wildlife Reserve was another wonderful walk. A beautiful place overall!

We stayed at Oma & Opa's cabin for 2 nights while preparing for an extended wilderness trip. We had a slight hiccup finding it, as the link wasn't able to pinpoint the location completely. Our hosts were very quick to respond with directions and we were soon enjoying the gorgeous views of their property. The cabin is an absolute delight! Very cozy and clean with all the amenities needed. We thoroughly enjoyed sunsets on the front porch, and views of the surrounding mountains. It was the perfect start to our adventure, and unfortunately, was already booked when we came back through Whitehorse - we would have loved to stay there again.
