This was paradise plus! The island caretakers Tom & Alicia were truly the best hosts ever. Their attention to detail was amazing. Nick our chef couldn’t do enough for you, providing exceptional food morning noon and night! Can’t wait to go back
Wilson Island is my new favourite place. How have I not heard of it before? Best kept secret. Amazing place to swim, snorkel and witness turtle mating rituals. Nick made us some delicious food and always willing to share tips! (Making those delicious wafers this week). Syb and Sarah were wonderful hosts. The snorkeling excursions were spectacular. Thank you all so much for making our Coral anniversary incredible. Oh, and Billy conjured up dolphins on the trip back to Heron! Hopefully see you again in the near future. X
Absolutely amazing. Cannot recommend enough. The staff made it perfect. Such amazing wildlife with turtles in front of the tents and under. Food is amazing. Everything was just perfect.
Wilson Island is the most amazing experience we have had. It is the closest you can get to being stranded on a tropical island but with 5 star service.
The staff are extraordinary and everything is perfectly done. The meals are fantastic
Totally relaxing holiday and well worth it.
Highly recommend adding Wilson Island to your bucket list.
To say this stay was phenomenal would be an understatement! We weren’t sure exactly what to expect on the island before we arrived but we were pleasantly surprised by everything.
Travel was very easy on the ferry with a prearranged ticket and a person to greet us on Heron Island. We were then picked up on the beach on Heron Island, where we had a fun 20 minute boat ride to Wilson.
We were there during sea turtle mating season, so sunrise, evening, and night were amazing with the amount of turtles we were able to enjoy.
The accommodations were wonderful with one of the most comfortable beds we have ever slept in. The tent was very comfortable with a nice breeze from the ocean at night so we were never too hot or cold.
The food was absolutely amazing to the point my wife has continued to say how much she misses Nick even after returning home. T-bone steak for dinner, duck for lunch, a beautifully presented plate of scallops for a sunset appetizer, just to name a few of the amazing dishes. Nick even prepared a spread of DIY Vegemite, bread and butter for us since we were jet lagged and waking up well before breakfast.
It took us over 36 hours of travel to get there and we would immediately get on a flight to return if we could, even if just for a couple more days of paradise.
The Wilson Island experience was amazing for those who love being emmersed in nature; a huge array of coral and fish, turtles nesting and hatching in their season. Abundant bird life, and visitors must be prepared for the unending chatter from the species who inhabit the island (we loved it!).
The hosts were sensational! Nothing too much trouble and they hold a wealth of knowledge about the wildlife (and cocktails!). And the food!!! Our chef was incredible and the food was out of this world.
The tent accommodation was good; bed very comfy. Walk to amenities wasn’t too far, and all eco friendly toiletries and sunscreen was available. Due to the number of guests on island we were allocated our own shower room, but there is sometimes a need to share.
Overall this was the best holiday experience we have had. Unforgettable!
Wilson Island is paradise. Seriously. It is a 5 star eco-sanctuary. It's a bit of a trek from Sydney but the 2 boat rides to get there from Gladstone are pert of the trip. We saw whales as we arrived at Herron Island. On Wilson we swam with 1 m turtles, reef sharks, and gazillions of fish varieties. The fish aren't afraid of people as there are no more than 18 people at a time on Wilson. There were 4 of us. The coral and sand is pristine. Azure ocean. The hosts, Sheree and Alex are a perfect balance of friendly and relaxed, and 5 star service. Incredibly thoughtful and interesting people. Our chef, Prune, worked in a 2 Michelin Star restaurant in France for 7 years. The food was exquisite! We slept comfortably. The view from the tent was beautiful. Couldn't be better. We'll be back again soon.
The experience on Wilson was second to none. This is truely a private, personable and intimate experience. We were there with only 6 other guest one night and two other guests the other night. There were three people to look after us and the island. The French chef (Alex) took care of all the meals, which were high-end restaurant material. He made special Vegan meals for my wife and I, that were absolutely delicious. Open bar with a great wine selection, and a bottle of Champagne (yes the French and only version) for anniversary and birthday. The glamping tent was located in a beautiful spot. There were kayaks/SUPs to use. The bathrooms were clean and convenient (they are not attached to the tents, and shared if the island is full, we had a private one as there were not many people and could use a spare one too).
The corals around the island are in great shape, which makes snorkelling a delight. We did not see too many large fish/rays/sharks, but plenty of reef fish and turtles.
The price? High, but I would say worth it.
Wilson Island is magical. It is simple luxury. Remote, untouched, but with everything you need for a relaxing stay. Nothing to do except swim, snorkel, read, enjoy the marine life and stare at the glorious views. I'll be back a third time.
