See the real-life Wayne Manor from the Batman franchise and explore its fascinating museum and vast scenic grounds where deer roam.

Wollaton Hall is a majestic hilltop mansion surrounded by an expansive deer park. The 16th-century Elizabethan country house now contains the Nottingham Natural History Museum and the Nottingham Industrial Museum. Browse the captivating exhibits and spot herds of deer in the picturesque parkland surrounding the building.

Take part in a guided tour to learn about the history of this house, which was constructed in the 1580s. Tours lead visitors around various rooms from the Tudor, Regency and Victorian periods. Admire the elegant furnishings of the chambers and the Tudor-era equipment in the kitchen.

If Wollaton Hall looks familiar, it may be because you’ve seen it already on the big screen. In 2012, it was used as the setting for the fictional Wayne Manor for the Batman movie The Dark Knight Rises.

Go for a picnic with your family in the spacious grounds that stretch across more than 500 acres (202 hectares) of meadows, forests and pathways. Enjoy the serene ambiance and colorful arrays of plants in the botanic garden, where you can purchase plants. This attractive garden only opens on Sundays during summer.

Find the Nottingham Natural History Museum inside the mansion and examine its extensive collection of stuffed animals. The displays include sections on insects, birds and minerals. The Nottingham Industrial Museum, located beside the café, holds a collection of steam engines as well as exhibits on textiles and transport.

Check the online schedule for events and concerts in the hall’s grounds. Relax with snacks and refreshments in the pleasant café in the 17th-century stables block.

The park and hall are open daily and entrance to both is free. Pay a fee to join one of the tours that take place several times per day. The Nottingham Industrial Museum is only open on weekends and Bank Holidays.

Wollaton Hall is in the western suburbs of Nottingham, 3 miles (5 kilometers) from the city center. Drive to the site, following the brown street signs, and leave your car, for a fee, in the paid parking lot. Buses also connect the estate to central Nottingham.
