This quintessentially Vermont property offers a peaceful retreat no matter the season! A wonderful landing pad for adventure, Starry Plough is bordered by the Appalachian Trail and is minutes away from Saskadena Ski Resort, Woodstock Town, and Sugarbush Farm. Killington is just a little further up the road and boasts a plethora of local attractions. Outdoor enthusiasts will also love the close proximity to Luce's Lookout for scenic hikes and Silver Lake for canoe trips and refreshing dips. Luckily, you'll even be able to sled and hike from your vacation home!

Pulling up to your stay, you will immediately be charmed by Starry Plough's farmhouse red exterior. Upon entering, the home's wood vaulted ceilings, comfortable furnishings, and overall rustic ambiance will have you feeling at home in no time. Warm your feet and prepare a fire in the wood stove while enjoying each other's company in the light-filled living room. When you get hungry, the full kitchen displays a full suite of stainless steel appliances and an old-school oven-turned-counter.

Composed of hardwood flooring, soft linens, and bohemian decorations, the rooms are equally inviting. Off the primary bedroom, you'll even have access to an office, ideal for WFH situations! The little ones of the family will be pleased with the children's toys and kid-friendly furnishings in their room, though the room is also perfect for a group of friends. Everyone will appreciate Starry Plough's partial air-conditioning for use during the warmer months. A private washer/dryer ties together the home's conveniences.

Outside, as the furry members of your family stretch their legs, gaze up at mountain and tree-top views.

Decent but could be better
Overall we had a positive experience but definitely ran into several issues throughout our stay that each degraded our experience some. Pros: - Big house, interesting and great Vermont cabin vibes - Vacasa was incredibly responsive to all issues, texted back and forth with them a few times and received quick and helpful responses - Great view around the house, beautiful yard - Bathrooms clean and awesome water pressure - WiFi good - Kitchen decently stocked with pots/pans/etc, - Bedrooms are nice, have a good feel to them. Cons: - A bit hard to find, down gravel back roads (google maps gets confused about the roads and how to get to the house) - We experienced many flies in the bedrooms and kitchen - We ran into a heating issue (which we ultimately fixed but definitely was not good to go from arrival) - Couldn't get in upon arrival (Vacasa fixed this for us immediately though) - Had to remove our own trash and take it with us

Destination Wedding in the Fall
I was more than please with the beauty surrounding this location. Coming from Florida with people who have never been to the northeast during fall, it was a perfect introduction to Fall in New England. If you are one who gets car or motion sick, be advised that this house is at the very top of a mountain, where the Appalachian trail comes in, and to get to the top it is a ten minute drive up a windy steep mountain. The house was everything I was looking for as 3 married adult couples, it had 4 large bedrooms and 2 baths. Beds were a little too hard are half the party, but I slept great!! Just 15 mins from the "Hallmark" town of Woodstock, it's worth the trip.

Disliked: Communication
Farmhouse getaway
My family enjoyed their stay at the farmhouse. It is located very near a property that we are working on and so it was convenient for my husband to go back and forth. It is located pretty far up so 4 wheel drive would definitely be necessary in the winter months or mud season. The bedrooms were comfortable and there were plenty of extra towels and pillows. There is a lovely office although I was unable to access anything on my computer. Had to respond to emails on my phone. We did have a few hiccups though. The electricity went offline twice during our stay. Only lasted about an hour or two and luckily there were candles available. There were also a couple of mice stealing our onions during the night. We had our own traps so we were able to handle that. I don’t think I would rent any property hosted by Vacasa in the future. They were very slow to respond to my messages regarding the mice and how to handle trash. It felt very corporate and far away. Not the local host experience that we are used to.
