Not a bad hotel, just slightly far from central ci
Room was fairly large though not in a very central location. A bit of a walk into main area near Drum Tower. Comfort of room was pretty good though not much of a view from my hotel room. If you are after something in a more central location then there are plenty of other options available closer to the central city area. Do re-check the hotel location yourself because the distance stated isnt neccessarily correct, whether intentional or unknowingly misinformed. Room amenities replaced daily, requested sheets to be changed daily (though not entirely sure this was done every day). A bit pricey though I did end up booking this place last minute on the night as my original hotel booked wasnt of an acceptable standard. I have found in China you usually get what you pay for so if you are used to comfort, space and exceptional cleanliness then always go with a 5 star hotel. Overall I would recommend this hotel and would stay here again but would suggest booking a larger sized room for personal comfort. Dont have many negatives comments about this hotel, only minor small issues like the size of the minibar and lack of minibar food choices.

Great Hotel Location.
We chose the Grand Metropark Hotel for its excellent location. It is within the city walls, and just minutes away from the Bell and Drum Towers, as well as the brightly lit and busy Muslim Street, a bazaar street lined with fancy stalls/shops selling authentic food, local snacks and souvenirs, etc. The hotel is big and pleasant, and rooms are generally clean and comfortable. Do note that the hotel appears to be quite popular and fully booked, so check in early if you have preference for non-smoking and/or adjoining rooms (our party of 3 was put in rooms on different levels!). And go down early for breakfast if you don’t want leftovers:(.

excellent hotel at reasonable price
We really enjoyed our 2 nights at the hotel. The room was spacious and clean. Hotel staff were very helpful, though it would have even more impressive if they spoke more English.

Walking distance to just about everywhere
The hotel is 20 minute walk from the Bell Tower along a main road and plenty of excellent shopping. The East Gate on the Town Wall is about 15 minutes walk in the other direction. The main Xian railway station is twenty minutes north, and the trendy night life near the south gate is about 30 minutes away on foot. Of course, there are many taxis and buses passing the hotel all the time. My stay was comfortable except for noise coming from an open air diner next door, and the sound of rock music from a shopping complex across the street. The diner shut down at 12:30am ach night, customers or not.

Adequate Hotel
The Grand Metropark Hotel in Xi'an is an older hotel in a good location. We are a family of four with young kids, so we booked 2 rooms. Upon arrival we learned that there were no adjoining rooms available, so the front desk upgraded us to the family suite, which had 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and a sitting area. Very nice of them to do that! The room was very clean but smoking was permitted in that room so there was just that "smoky" feeling. The breakfast buffet was large but the food was satisfactory. The location was good for walking to the center of town and lots of shopping/restaurants. It took about an hour to get from the hotel to the terracotta warriors and about 40 minutes to get to the hotel from the airport.

Western breakfast much to be desired, not nearly as good as other hotels in China; choices were limited. Was difficult understanding hotel staff, their English was very poor.

Great location inside the wall
Great location inside the city wall. Formerly a Hyatt hotel. Nice restaurants. Like many similarly rated hotels we visited in china it appeared to be hotel largely empty. The hotels executive chef spent a few hours walking with us in the Muslim quarters which was a nice gesture.

Nice location and affordable.
The hotel was located within walking distance of the Xian wall which made it easy to hit one of the better in-town destinations. The price was reasonable and the staff was excellent. The atrium has live birds in cages and koi fish. The restaurant was very good. The beds, however were hard and the hotel shows it age a bit. There didn't seem to be a lot of nearby restaurants to choose from. Overall I recommend this hotel for tourists looking for a nice and affordable stay.

A weak Hyatt
I was surprised that Hyatt had its name on this hotel. The room was extemely dated, the bed was terribly uncomfortable, and it was overall a substandard hotel. The four-star rating was clearly a figment of someone's imagination. There's got to be a better hotel in Xi'an.

Great City, Great Hotel.
The hotel mnagement and staff were very cooperaive and wam. We were given one of the best rooms for family of 3; extra bed provided imedately on request. The hotel has the 'old world charm' with it's furniture and decor and we likedddd it very much. Breakfast was very good. Hotel's location is best suited to tourist familes. We liked Xi'an and if happen to visit again, would like to stay only at Hyatt Xi'an.

Hyatt Regency - okay hotel, closing down in the next few months (May 2011)
Nice hotel, not in a great location, but not bad either. Hotel was definitely older, according to local sources the hotel will be closing in the next few months as they are opening a park hyatt. I would suggest staying in the bell tower hotel if possible. It is is a much better location. Xi'an has a bus system, but no underground. Taxis are able to be found, but they don't always like to pick up foreigners. Staying in a good location matters in Xi'an. Would suggest somewhere near the bell/drum tower.

Hyatt Xian
An excellent location and good value hotel. A booking into the club is great value given the use of the lounge and the benefits offered. There is no swimming pool, just a large hot tub which was OK - but a pool for the children would have been nice. Tours provided were very good, with a cool comfortable car.

We had an incredible rate for this fabulous hotel inside the walled section of the city. The location is great. The breakfast is extraordinary.
We could see a part of the ancient wall from our room... the location is terrific. We chose the room rate with breakfast and we were so delighted to have such a wonderful selection of western and eastern dishes. We had one of the best breakfasts ever... The room and bathroom were very large and comfortable. (They have many TV channels in English, in case you can't sleep...) Because of our timing we had dinner in their Chinese restaurant, instead of going out and we don't recommend it. Their Chinese restaurant is too bright and the food is not memorable therefore expensive, we should have dined in the Cafe. The hotel lobby is a great place for an afternoon drink.

The Hotel was well equipped and convenient to the city center. I was anticipating a nice hot Sauna, only to discover that it was a mixed sex and I needed a swimsuit (which I did not have) so that was disappointing. No Wireless, only cable internet so my strategy to leave the laptop and work on my i-pad was shot in the foot. Breakfast was superb and worth the extra cost, a rare event at any hotel.

Excellent hotel option in Xi'an
Our experience at the Hyatt Regency went above and beyond expectations. The service was outstanding: our every need was anticipated and met before we knew it. Our junior suite reservation was upgraded to a full suite at no cost to make more room for a child bed. Breakfast and executive lounge cocktails were added to our service at no charge. The hotel was not crowded when we were there, over Christmas, which may have been a factor, but the service mentality seemed embedded in the hotel culture. The breakfast and lunch buffets were excellent and reasonably priced for hotel meals. The hotel is across the street from a theater and a shopping complex. The old city wall is only a half-mile walk away. The major Xi'an attraction, the Terra Cotta Warriors, is about a 90 minute car ride. We hired a hotel car for the day, an option that worked quite well for us (2 adults, 2 kids). We recommend this hotel without hesitation. We arrived in Xi'an by train from Beijing. It would have been smart to arrange a pick-up with the hotel in advance: places to hail a cab at/near the station are extremely limited and very poorly marked.

An Oasis
Attentive service, terrific for a young family. An Oasis in a dusty and dirty city. Terracotta warriors make the trip worth while, and the Hyatt makes it bareable.
