The up side is that the property is a lovely, cozy apartment that is equipped with everything that one would need to be comfortably self-sufficient. The down side is that one must be self-suffient. Given the fact that it is located in an average Japanese neighborhood and not close to any hotel zone, there are no eateries in the area and all food has to be brought in from elsewhere and/ or prepared on site. Though it has a Kamakura address, it is actually much closer to Ofuna (two trains stops to the north), meaning that any proximity to Kamakura sites that are to be visited is pure foolishness. Transportation is a huge issue. It cost us 2600 Yen to get from Kamakura Station to the apartment, and then, not being familiar with the local bus lines, were essentially stuck there. It was only through the kindness of the gentleman owner of the apartment that we were returned without cost to the Station the next morning. So, a great little place, but the remoteness of the property is a big liability.
A wonderful experience in Japanese apartment stay!
Our stay in this place was very pleasant. Entire apartment is quite spacious for us. The host was very thoughtful and had everything prepared. Bathroom is equipped with automatic temperature control and very nice. Kitchen had all the silverware handy and very clean. Bus Transportation took us a couple of bus ride to figure out. After that it was really convenient. The bus stop is less than two minutes of walk. And it is only four stops away from the train station. We used our SUICA card to pay for the bus. Entire Ōfuna station area is very easy to find food to eat. Next time we will definitely choose to stay in this place again if we come back to Kamakura area.
