Ahr-Middle Rhine comprises a small wine region and the most well-known section of the Rhine River. In the valley of the river lie many castles and ruins as well as wineries with guided tours. Spend time in this region to learn about Germany’s red wine, intriguing history and excellent scenery.

Travel to the various vineyards growing primarily red grapes along the Ahr, which lies on a western tributary of the Rhine River. Despite being one of the world’s northernmost red wine regions, the area has a warm microclimate suited to superior cultivation. Enjoy the enchanting ambiance here and visit the Are Castle in Altenahr.

The region is in western Germany, comprising the central section of the Rhine River and the wine area to its west. Fly to Frankfurt Airport and head west for about 45 minutes to get to Bingen.
