St. Moritz

This chic mountain resort has miles of superb skiing and hiking trails, golf, thermal spas and luxury shopping encompassed by a backdrop of majestic Alpine scenery.

St. Moritz is famous for being one of the birthplaces of Alpine tourism in Switzerland. Its stunning lakeside setting and snow-capped mountains have been attracting the rich and famous since the 1860s. Ski, hike, bike, swim and play golf amid the area’s unspoiled nature. Dine at award-winning restaurants, visit stimulating museums and shop at luxury retail outlets.

St. Moritz’s town sits on the northern shores of the glistening Lake St. Moritz. Spot a mix of traditional Alpine-style houses and contemporary architecture such as the Chesa Futura. Browse the boutiques and high-end retailers on Via Serlas. Visit galleries and museums, including the Berry Museum, Engandiner Museum and Segantini Museum.

Walk around crystalline Lake St. Moritz and admire the town’s striking scenery. Go boating in summer and ice-skating in winter. Take a short hike through pine forests to Lake Staz, a great place to swim during warmer months.

Ride the cable cars and funiculars to mountain peaks, where endless miles of hiking and skiing trails await. Ski, snowboard, snowshoe and toboggan on the perfectly groomed pistes of Corviglia Ski Resort and Diavolezza Ski Resort. Feel on top of the world as you explore the panoramic trails around Muottas Muragl and Corvatsch Peak.

Golf enthusiasts have the chance to play at five courses in the Engadin Valley. Among these are Golf Engadin St. Moritz and the 9-hole Kulmpark St. Moritz. Rejuvenate the body at the therapeutic pools of St. Moritz Bäder.

Discover St. Moritz’s culinary scene. Try local dishes, including capuns (meat and dumplings wrapped in chard leaves) and Engadin nusstorte (nut cake), at restaurants featured in the Gault Millau guide. Sample whiskies from a collection of 2,500 varieties at Devil’s Place. Hike the Via Gastronomica, which combines food with unparalleled views.

St. Moritz is about a 3-hour drive from Zurich and getting here is a memorable experience. Catch the Bernina Express or the Glacier Express, two scenic train journeys that include travelling high on the mountainsides. Upon arrival, reach the town centre via The St. Moritz Design Gallery, a pedestrianized exhibition space.

It was an older hotel and very nice with the remodel. It was expensive but a good price for the area. Great location and close to the ski-lift and restaurants/shops. Be prepared to walk hills and steps and if you’re coming from the train station, get a taxi if you have luggage!
