What you can expect

Autumn head over heels for the exquisite desert scenery in Canyonlands National Park during a 3-day off-road camping adventure. Sleep under the stars and partake in a series of unforgettable 4x4 excursions in the Needles District, where technical ascents like Bobby's Hole and Elephant Hill beckon.

Day 1: Moab to Beef Basin & Ruin Park
Leave Moab and accelerate along windswept meadows on your journey into the southeastern corner of Canyonlands National Park. After arriving in the Needles District, make your way to Beef Basin, an arid region that necessitates rugged tyres and 4-wheel-drive capabilities. Test the mettle of your Land Cruiser as your guide tackles a series of climbs at Beef Basin and Ruin Park. Then, savour a cowboy-style meal and climb inside your tent for your first night of desert camping.

Day 2: Elephant Hill & Devil's Lane
Following a cup of piping coffee and a delicious camp breakfast, head into the desert at the break of day. Dedicate the morning to summiting Elephant Hill and exploring Devil's Lane, in a region with some of the most challenging 4-wheel-drive tracks in the entire park. The road weaves between Cedar Mesa pillars with spits of blue grama and desert grasses sprouting up between the rocks. Following your drive, enjoy a picnic and indulge in a brief yet rewarding hike to a scenic promontory to admire the confluence of the Green and Colorado rivers.

Day 3: Chesler Park to Moab
On your final day, head to Chesler Park for a hike in the heart of Canyonlands. Find the Joint Trail secluded and begin to ascend along a narrow ravine. During the trek, discover an idyllic pasture bordered by towering sandstone formations that rise like apparitions out of the desert. Take lunch at the summit, and then return to the vehicle, motoring back to Moab as afternoon stretches towards evening.
