What you can expect

Day 1: Arrive in Guatemala City, where your guide greets you and escorts you to your hotel. This charming colonial city once served as the heart of Central American economics, politics, and religion, and is named a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Relax for the rest of the day and prepare for the exciting trip ahead.

Day 2: After a hearty breakfast, embark on a half-day walking tour of Antigua. Your guide takes you to see the top attractions, referred to as Antigua Guatemala, after earthquakes destroyed many of its buildings in 1773. Return to your hotel in the afternoon and spend the rest of the day however you like.

Day 3: After breakfast, depart to Santo Tomás Chichicastenango, a pre-Hispanic town of cobblestone streets and red-tiled rooftops, renowned throughout the Americas for its picturesque outdoor market. Next, visit the adjacent Santo Tomás Church and continue to the town of Panajachel on Lake Atitlán. Get settled in at your accommodation and enjoy a free evening to do as you wish.

Day 4: Arise for breakfast and then take a scenic boat ride across Lake Atitlán to the indigenous village of Santiago Atitlán, that lies between Tolimán and San Pedro volcanoes. Admire the huipiles that women weave and embroider with coloured birds and flowers. After returning to Panajachel, head back to Guatemala City for the evening.

Day 5: Enjoy breakfast at your hotel, then get ready for drop-off at the airport for your return flight.
